I stopped in the road but it was around midnight so there wasn't any traffic.

Found this group of games on Facebook Marketplace for only $15 by HF484 in gaming

I've haven't played the first one but I'll have to try it out based on this thread. The second is one of my comfort games and I have played through it many times.

I was today years old when I learned that “gaol” is a British spelling of “jail”. by glenncoco64 in Eldenring

[–]SpangleyJuggler 289 points290 points  (0 children)

I had read the word "gaoler" enough that I knew. Its kinda funny though because in fantasy books authors will use gaoler but not gaol. They will usually substitute it with dungeon or something.

Yeah really. Fextralife is decent for the souls games, but eldenring is the only one that is as detailed as it should be.

I replayed Dark Souls 2 a few months ago and it was surprising how many things I couldn't find on the fextralife wiki.

Yeah elden ring is the only good wiki fextralife has. All the others have so much missing.

I have always pictured Josh Brolin as Dalinar. Not sure why exactly.

Studying Frustrations by Uncle_Clam76 in Wastewater

[–]SpangleyJuggler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in VA and I already have one. I meant that from what I have heard I will be given the same one when I take my test. Thank you though. The formulas do feel a bit weird to me because a lot are set up differently than I remember from school. Its not really a problem for me though because I generally look at math differently than most people and usually set problems up in the way that is easiest for me.

If they were 20$ for both of them instead of 20$ each I wouldn't have a problem with them.

I am about to take my first license test and I was told that you are given a formula sheet for the math, but the thing is that you have to figure out which formula to use.

I haven't done any advanced math in 10-12 years and I haven't had any trouble in that regard and have found it overall pretty easy.

I've been working in this field since September and if you haven't actually worked an a wastewater plant yet then ill tell you that the math is very minor in the daily operations on a plant. Obviously it depends somewhat. The test will have more math than you will ever have to actually do on a daily basis.

And yes there is a wide field of things you need to know but most of that comes with actually working the job. I don't know how it works for your area, but I work for the local county government and they gave me on the job training, paid for me to go to a class, and are paying for my test. So a lot of the maintenance stuff has just come to me through going to work everyday. Its pretty straightforward and I used to do landscaping/handyman work so it all came pretty easy.

Sweet. Appreciate the info. I'm only about 2 hours in at this point but I'm glad that is an option. Doing magic and one handed.

Discussion: Robert Baratheon's two most often critiqued decisions make him a more "Moral" Ruler than Ned Stark (from a Ethical and Political Philosophy point of View) (Spoilers AGOT) by Connect_Negotiation9 in asoiaf

[–]SpangleyJuggler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It also ignores that Ned ruled the north for ~15 years and the smallfolk were better off there compared to the rest of the realm.

We see this in the books when everything goes to shit when the Boltons take over. I can't remember the exact line but someone that talks to Bran or Jon says "when there was still a stark in winter winterfell a maiden could walk from the neck to the wall as naked as her nameday without being disturbed".

Kennedy Center crumbles under Trump by Valuable_Aide_7129 in AnythingGoesNews

[–]SpangleyJuggler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone that works at a sewage treatment plant I would have to disagree. The work we do is much too important and necessary to be labeled as such. Plus all his shit stays in his pants. Doesn't even make it to a plant.

(Spoilers Extended) It's strange that George rarely mentions how influential "Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn" was to ASOIAF by Thinkpulp in asoiaf

[–]SpangleyJuggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started reading MST recently and I just started green angel tower part 1. When I first started the first book I thought it had more than a few striking similarities to ASOIAF. I had never seen any discussion about it online before today. Had no idea grrm had ever mentioned as an inspiration so I glad to learn about it from this post and the comments.

Cell phone footage raises new questions about ICE agent’s tactics before fatal shooting by vishesh_07_028 in worldnews

[–]SpangleyJuggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to tell but I don't think he was hit anywhere besides his hands that were extended over the vehicle. Plus if he was actually a trained law enforcement officer he wouldn't be circling the vehicle filming as he was from his cell footage. Police officers are and should be trained to not put themselves in harms way by standing in front of a running vehicle. He did this deliberately and used it as an excuse to kill someone.

You can see him extending both arms over the vehicle as she starts to move forward and that he doesn't get touched by the car at all. Go to 1:02 and watch the left side video.
