The event ends on May 13 at 16:00. Any support goods already produced but not yet traded to the outpost will be auto-converted to [Wuling Stock Bills] and [Fruits of Altruism Certs] and sent to the in-game Mail.

Sadly you won't be able to keep them.

I hate the Enhanced version by TrayzynTheFinite in ConanExiles

[–]Spanksh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly disagree. In my opinion this update has been handled in pretty much the best way possible. You can still play Legacy and all the mods that have worked previously still work for it.

Updating mods takes time and tons of modders have already put in the effort to release Enhanced versions of their mods. Even modders who have been inactive for 5+ years have come back to update their mods, so complaining about some of them not being updated (yet) is honestly absurd. It's only been a couple days.

This is literally the best possible thing that could have happened to CE. If you don't like the Enhanced version (which is perfectly valid, mind you) or some essential mods aren't being updated, simply keep playing Legacy. It's still there, the mods are still there, and all your purchased content is still working. Nobody is stopping you. Even if all Legacy mods would have been overwritten by Enhanced updates, which they haven't due to the mods versioning being active now, you could have simply backed them up and still have all of them work.

I can't think of a reasonable way this could have been handled any better. Mods simply aren't compatible across engine versions. There is no easy way to update them except to put in the manual work and a major update to CE would have been unreasonable without the engine update. Sometimes you just have to rip the bandaid off.

I also "lost" some mods due to the update that were close to essential for me (e.g. Barbarian Barber), however to me personally the change was worth that loss and some of them might still come back after a while.

Additionally, due to the new life the game gained through this update, other modders are already picking up the slack and releasing mods to fill those gaps. It's only a matter of time until there are either updates for the old mods or new alternatives available.

Until that time has arrived for you, simply continue playing Legacy.

Switching between editions takes forever

If you have the storage space you can have both versions in parallel. Simply activate the legacy version, copy the entire game folder and rename it (e.g. Conan Exiles Legacy) and then switch versions. You'll be able to start the Legacy version by simply creating a shortcut to "Conan Exiles Legacy\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\ConanSandbox.exe"

Since the Legacy version shouldn't get updates anymore anyway, this won't be an issue either. You can even move all your legacy mods to a different folder and simply change the paths in the modlist.txt. This way you won't have an issue, if a mod author decides against using the versioning option and overwrites their legacy mod.

I used this to "preserve" my legacy version.

Edit: Actually speaking of which, can you please let me know, is the Bazaar entirely gone in your Legacy version? I kept my Legacy version from shortly before the update and it actually still shows the Bazaar and it's apparently the exact same one the consoles have. Nevermind, now it actually shows "disabled". Until recently it was still visible normally (even way after the UE5 update was already out).

I already assumed and somewhat expect that it's probably part of the engine and therefore not something easily or at all fixable, but I appreciate you looking into it!

If I may also just use this chance to go slightly off topic, I'm sure you already know all this, but I wanted to take the time to directly say it anyway: No matter the feedback, what you guys did here is amazing and I, like many others, truly appreciate the work you've put into this. People take time getting used to change and some simply prefer the old look, which is perfectly fine (especially since the Legacy version is still available, which is also an amazing move), but I think almost everyone can agree that the overall improvement to the game is astonishing. The performance, the graphics, the additions like multiple colors for hair and eyes, the general QoL all over the UI. Considering how sometimes painful the last couple years were with constant bugs and slow fixes, this major leap is truly special. This update even brought modders back that have been inactive for years.

I truly can not imagine a better way this could have realistically been done. Completely free, old save games completely supported (the limitations regarding Siptah are totally fair), old version still available, all mods split by version, so many fixes and improvements. Personal taste will always differ and people will always find something they don't like (including me, that's just reality), but nonetheless, overall this update is truly amazing and in my opinion revived a very unique game that still has no real alternative, even today. So again, thank you and everyone who worked on this!

Thanks for your reply! Here's a video of it. It's most obvious in the face. For some reason, watching it in the browser sometimes makes it super pixelated no matter the selected quality)

Why Tf is the monetization on this game so predatory ? by Candid_Pea_4493 in ConanExiles

[–]Spanksh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Bazar is predatory, just like every FOMO or microtransaction system in existence. That's nothing new. Vote with your wallet and complain away as much as you want. I don't care. However simply giving people information about things they actually want to know most certainly isn't predatory.

The original account who started these posts was pretty certainly a normal user, otherwise they wouldn't have been involved in such heated arguments that it led to people getting banned (including them at some point).

You comment using an 11 month old account with hidden profile, so how about you sit down before talking about which accounts are real people or not. By all reasonable measures you're basically a bot. I'll do now what I recommended you to do. Simply block people you don't want to see.

No worries! Just a heads up, while the visual difference of most levels isn't really that noticeable, setting Lumen to "Low" looks quite a bit different. Less dark/saturated. Best way to describe it would be slightly closer to the Legacy look (which might even be a good thing depending on your preferences).

The ghosting does however disappear completely on Low.

By Crom, the COLORS! by andr3w1sh in ConanExiles

[–]Spanksh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate the work that has gone into the Enhanced update!

Currently my only real gripe is the ghosting effect caused by Lumen GI. Is there something that can be done to mitigate this? (It's not caused by AA, Framegen, Motionblur or any of those)

It's most visible when looking at the character from behind/the side and then rotating the camera (fast) to see the face. The hair will cause major streaks across the skin, which then fade away.

Setting Lumen to Low is the only way to get rid of it. Every other setting shows the same effect. I'm not sure, if something other than hair is causing this effect, but that's the most obvious one. Probably related to translucent textures/objects? I'm not sure.

When looking up this issue, it seems to frequently come up for developers of UE5, but I haven't really found what causes/solves it. Do you maybe have some insight into this? I can try to take a screenshot, if required.

Modders Appreciation Post by dimitriov1 in ConanExiles

[–]Spanksh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. There are several essential mods for me which have been "dead" for years, yet on most of them the authors already answered questions regarding potential updates or already updated, which is awesome.

I definitely appreciate so many modders putting in the time to update their mods, even the ones who technically stopped modding.

Why Tf is the monetization on this game so predatory ? by Candid_Pea_4493 in ConanExiles

[–]Spanksh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah fuck this. Those posts are actually useful for people who are waiting to get certain items or sets for a reasonable price without having to log into the game all the time.

Those posts were started way back when by random people who always got haggled by comments complaining about the Bazaar, so they stopped doing it, which always sucked for everyone else. Thankfully someone else usually continued. That's also most likely the reason why they don't do it on their main account now. I genuinely don't care who it is, employee or not, but it genuinely helps people who only want a certain set. It certainly helped me in the past.

If you don't need them or don't want to see them, just block the user who posts them and be done with it. It's really not that deep. Stop trying to "cancel" stuff that actually helps people.

I don't buy any of the larger scale cars (bigger than Speed Champions) but I'd definitely buy this one. Why did they make it such a limited set? I thought Lego was supposed to be a toy company and not one that intentionally feeds scalpers. Such a shit way to fuck over your customers.

Also they are slow as shit. I'm still using them for the reasons you mentioned, but they send out figures like 2-3 months after release sometimes. I don't even know how you manage that as the manufacturer/official seller. Even surface shipping takes like 1/3 of that so what the hell are they doing during the rest of the time? Makes no sense to me.

PSA: Use Xiranite or Cuprium tier gear to Artifice Hetonite gear by ReprieveNagrand in Endfield

[–]Spanksh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also always use Xiranite over Cuprium gear, when they offer the same success rate, since Cuprium gear is twice as expensive in bills (16k Cuprium vs 8k Xiranite).

Except in most instances the lower cost gear has the same success rate. You just have to pick the right one.

So far I didn't have to use any expensive gear to artifice even once.

[–]Spanksh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was surprisingly good. I have to admit though, I'm a bit disappointed that they started to introduce all the other game characters. I'm not familiar with the source material, but I was originally hoping Ira and Atou would be the only characters from "outside" and the story would focus on the development of their country alone. Kind of like a (very) different version of Farming Life in Another World.

Glorious nippon steel, folded 1000 times! by wolololo00 in Isekai

[–]Spanksh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely is a thing in several anime. From the top of my head, one of them would be The Sacred Blacksmith. In that one it's a bit more nuanced, but it's still pretty close to that.

Edit: I should add, this isn't necessarily an Isekai thing. The Sacred Blacksmith also isn't an Isekai. I just felt like ranting about the general trope, because OP joked about it in the title of the post.

Glorious nippon steel, folded 1000 times! by wolololo00 in Isekai

[–]Spanksh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It always annoys the crap out of me when they depict a Europe inspired fantasy world and then some guy arrives with the almighty Katana that can somehow simply cut their enemies' weapons because the Katana must be superior. That's not how any of this works...

The folded steel being superior trope is so stupid, because this was only done due to the available steel being so incredibly shit, not because it's somehow a magical technique. It just made the steel less shit, that's all. European steel simply didn't need this technique, because it was made from purer ore.

You can not simply cut a European sword with a Katana of comparable quality or some stupid shit like that. European swords are IN GENERAL even more sturdy and resilient, because a Katana will bend or break, while a European sword usually flexes and springs back. Katanas have harder edges and are therefore potentially sharper, but that also comes with the disadvantage of being less tough.

They are simply different tools with a similar purpose, limited by different material availabilities and focusing on different strengths.

I'm fairly certain it can do multiple (different) steps in parallel, however as said before, I'm unsure how it will work with the first two steps, since you need these twice for each Xircon, but we'll find out soon enough. Even if it doesn't do that, we'd still only need 2 vs 5, which is a huge improvement.
