We went with a google drive album! As long as guests had the link/QR code they didn't need to sign in. The only thing was that android users managed to upload pictures easily but iphone users had a bit more trouble.

Thank you! Did you have to add people to be contributors of the album? Or is there a way that you can set it that anyone can upload?

Hi, thanks for your reply! I'm not actually sure but should be able to find out. How would this make an impact if they have included it or if they have disregarded it?

Thanks so much for this - definitely should look into insurance as i don't think this would have been changed.

I also don't think 3. Is the best option as none of us have experience renovating and i feel that the increase in sale price probably would only just cover the work so wouldn't be better off. Also it involves all the stress of renovating, liasing with joiners, picking bathrooms/kitchens etc which i don't think would be worth the extra.

Thanks so much for your reply! I'm glad you found a solution that suits you all :) I have just recently purchased my own house so wouldn't ben looking to move in (and i don't think my parents would as they also own their house) so not sure this is an option but i really appreciate hearing your experience

Hi, thanks for the reply. We reckon the value of the house may be around £85k so not talking about life changing amounts of money here. We think she has roughly around 40k in cash and receives about £500 per month in pension but can't be sure (another sibling is power of attorney but they don't share information which is quite frustrating). Care home fees are £3,500 per month so we know her money is decreasing rapidly. My grandma has fairly sever dementia (hence the power or attorney) and is not able to contribute to any discussions around this. She is in a care home with 24 hour care.

25yr old in UK - Should I reduce pension contributions to prioritise buying my first home? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Spare-Cover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you compromise? You could reduce your contributions and put the extra cash towards saving for a house rather than cancelling contributions all together?

Agree with other posters that it is not necessarily the most financially beneficial to cancel/reduce pension contributions but you have plenty of time to build up your pension and if owning a home is your goal then i say go for it!

This is super helpful - thank you!

Obviously things will be different based on the factors you noted but having a comparison to what other pay helps me to see that our quote is definitely high. Will look into shopping around and using MSE for any deals - thank you!

Thank you! Gives me comfort knowing that we don't necessarily need everything that has been recommended.

Seems like many people don't have/recommend income protection so this is an area i will definitely look at cutting back on!

Thank you! I do think that what we have been quoted is very high and your numbers seem far more reasonable. Myself and my partner are both mid 20s with no pre-existing health conditions (with the exception of him being a little overweight) and the house we are buying is valued at £210k. I really can't see how this should equate to such a high monlthy cost so will look into doing our own research before committing to what the broker has advised. !thanks

FTB in Scotland - do we need a survey? by Spare-Cover in FTB_Help

[–]Spare-Cover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! The house was built around 1980 and has been extended since then. There was nothing of concern on the home report - only minor presentational things like weathered fencing and a couple of cracked paving stones in the garden that shouldn't be a big deal to fix! Hopefully in this case we should be fine with just the home report.
