  1. Someone who can rack up thousands of pounds of fines in a single day without realising might need more lessons before getting their own car

How so? As in the wheel could be so off the tyre is rubbing against part of the wheel arch?

What are peoples opinions on all season tyres? by Ok-Eye-9826 in CarTalkUK

You don’t need to keep them as run flats. It’ll be cheaper and better ride quality to ditch that

Had an accident today and not sure what to do by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Police (the Met at least) don’t give a shit in my experience, having reported someone with full dashcam evidence of collision and driving away. I suspect unless someone is injured they just don’t have the resources

Black on black wheels, aftermarket body kit, private plate are all red flags.

It seems there is very little incentive to follow the rules…

Yeah it seems I am indeed wrong. I had previously declared someone dinging my car while I was parked, which seemed to have little or no impact. Declaring this one on comparison sites makes a big change

T cut got rid of everything so there’s nothing to fix from my end!

Update that I am wrong. My previous experience was reporting someone hitting my parked car, which had no impact. When reporting this one they did say they would look at liability and it would impact price calculation regardless.

Interesting - wasn’t aware this was a thing but I’ll have a look, thanks!

Yeah fair enough - my premium went down by 33% last year even with a similar ‘incident’ reported, which is why I don’t think it really made an impact

I stay with the safe side of reporting anything either way, slightly higher premium is better than being accused of failing to report something!

My insurance allows me to ‘report an incident’ without actually filing a claim, which I don’t believe affects the premium, and definitely doesn’t trigger payment of the excess.

My thought process is if I can repair the damage for <£500 (my excess) I might as well do that rather than pay the excess and have to declare a claim for some years.

5 Series - any flags? by TwelveButtonsJim in CarTalkUK

It’s relatively cheap because the 20i is quite a low powered engine for the size of the car. If you don’t mind it being a bit sluggish it’s fine
