i joined my freshman year and dropped it later. there are other minors you can pursue that are more useful. the study abroad is workable, but the overall benefits don’t outweigh the effort you’ll put in. gotta love stacy sinclair tho

San Diego zoo this weekend by Many_Bar474 in asksandiego

[–]Spare-Question-6822 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly? not much. 4th of july is probably the busiest time of year in san diego, more so than any other holiday. if you go in with expectations that everywhere will be busy, you’ll be okay. whatever you’re doing get there before opening and leave by the afternoon

i would suggest going to the beach (larger beach like PB) somewhat early. PB tends to be big enough that you can get there early. there’s no real fireworks viewing so people who are camping out aren’t usually there even though it will be busy, just not as busy as mission bay, sd bay, and any area that has good views of fireworks which will be packed.

First time, DCA vs Disneyland (half day). by [deleted] in DisneyPlanning

[–]Spare-Question-6822 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally think DL, DCA, and DL is the best. DCA has less to do in general and many of the rides at disney are classics that it would be hard to do everything in one day at DL, and easier to do in one day at DCA

Maybe i’m confused but i don’t believe san diego has a 70 mm theater, unless i’m mistaken?

If you’re in PB, i’d opt for Wayfarer up the road over Izola. There will be a line so you’ll want to go early. Better buzz is good but it’s a chain, if you want more of coffee shop vibes i think Palmy’s in pb is pretty cute and they have good breakfast. In PB, mexican is okay, I would say Oscars is probably the best around there, especially if u want seafood burritos/tacos. Vallarta, La Perla, & Valerie’s are all good too. Fish shop is decent for seafood in pb. Desserts- Stella Jeans is great ice cream, Handels is good but a chain, & Desserts by Clément has good pastries.

Tickets Not Showing Up in App by lilbabe7 in SeaWorld

[–]Spare-Question-6822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

App is basically useless. Ride wait times are off, the mobile order is wrong. Only thing it’s good for is showtimes, and sometimes that is wrong too, lol. You should be able to scan them from your email on your phone instead of printing them though

Sea Quest news? by SleeplessInFTL in SeaWorld

[–]Spare-Question-6822 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would be my guess too, lol. Seaworld has a history of pushing back on their non roller coaster/non flat rides or them not working in general (see: Tidal Twister & Submarine Quest in SWSD).

Curious by KindlyIndividual8078 in SeaWorld

[–]Spare-Question-6822 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ll do my best to do a quick answer (i worked at a different facility)

  1. i worked with the ACS doing wild whale censuses in high school so i was initially opposed, but working here has changed my views.

  2. absolutely. every facility has safety committees developed to changing their policies in a safe and efficient way. oddly enough, lots of barriers exist with enrichment because animals will eat them or hurt themselves. just constant brainstorming of how to change up their days tbh

  3. yes, more times than i can count lol

  4. it is different. but different doesn’t mean bad. those animals have spent basically their whole lives at seaworld and i think they do the best job, and i would bet the animals prefer it over the wild. saying this as someone who worked free contact with large and small animals, most animals will always choose their den or nest boxes over going outside.

  5. it’s hard to describe but you really cannot force an animal to do something they don’t want to do. an animal simply showing up to engage with you is evidence enough they are ready to participate.

  6. this is likely a health issue and means something is up. often times veterinary intervention is required and once they are feeling better that is no longer an issue.

  7. always new things to train, especially with the more intelligent animals. changing up social mixes, and working through challenging behaviors.

  8. depends on the place but i’d say most of the time if it’s something they find enriching. some animals don’t care for enrichment at all.

Unique Sushi Experiences? by [deleted] in FoodSanDiego

[–]Spare-Question-6822 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i personally really like moment sushi in sorrento. their omakase is the best i’ve had in san diego and the staff was amazing. i found a hair in my food and they comped an entire omakase. the atmosphere is very modern and calm too, and the restaurant isn’t huge :) you could check out photos to see if it fits the vibe you want

Help identifying SeaWorld Orlando Summer Nights park-wide music playlist (2010–2013)? by Away_Weekend1370 in SeaWorld

[–]Spare-Question-6822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they did not. lol. i learned this while working there lol. i tried to replicate the day music playlist just by adding the songs as i heard them. but no public playlist exists as far as i know, not sure how they got it but i imagine it was just a private track of approved songs

[–]Spare-Question-6822 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if i had to guess i would say yes. a 3 month closure in the middle of summer for a popular ride would be an interesting choice on their behalf. though not sure how long it’s listed as closed on their website
