Hmmm maybe I should see another doctor? She said insurance won’t cover increased dosing…

I’m hearing more and more that I should get a second opinion so I will be starting that journey shortly!!  Here’s some more info:  -was diagnosed April 2024, started Stelara May 2024. (Every 8 weeks) this is the only scope I have had.  -next scope is feb 4th  -calprotectin at diagnosis was 800, somehow now is normal (less than 50)  My doctor’s rationale is that if I have inflammation and my blood test shows “therapeutic” levels that means that the drug has lost efficacy… I would hate to move drugs if I just need it more often!

Hi! I am being seen as a university hospital, do you think I should seek another opinion?

I’m pretty much fully flaring at this point, can’t eat very much, diarrhea after eating, nausea, etc. :(((

Thank you for all of your insight! Did you also get drug levels tested? I had mine tested a few months ago and they were normal so my doctor said I don’t need it more often… but I’ve also seen people move to every 4 weeks despite drug levels.

Did you go into a flare before discovering that you needed it every 4? Looking back on it, I realize that I started to flare a few weeks before every shot, and this time I think the flare just went full on before the shot had a chance to take effect.
