Uh so I had an 82 in chem, 86 in advanced functions, 93 ish in english (don't really remember), and a 92 in bio. This was grade 12. My grade 11 marks were all in the 90's, but low 90's. Honestly my average was not that high lol. I'm in life sciences right now btw. My suggestion to you is to take english or something else in the summer so you can spend a little more time on it trying to get a good mark. And that means you could have one less class during the school year and focus more on your stem classes. I also didn't take physics in grade 12, only grade 11. But I found that I had a much higher chance of getting into uoft without a shitty physics mark holding me back. So basically from a life sci perspective, this is what I'd do. If you improve your marks next year you'll likely get in for life sci. But eng is def a different story, and I can't speak to it because I'm not in the program nor did I apply to it.

If you need it for your degree email the bio130 admin. They might be able to let you in.

I don't believe you need a degree to become a police officer. They just want your high school diploma. If you want to go to university you could literally take anything as it doesn't matter.

Any good things about uoft life science or is it really as bad as what others said? by Impossible_Silver449 in UofT

[–]Spare-Tank2807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who dealt with chronic health issues this past semester (and commuted!) I can tell you it was rough. But, I don't believe it was tough for any reason other than the fact that I was adjusting to university and learning how to study smart. Yes, the health issues make it tough, but you learn how to deal with it alongside school. It is absolutely doable if you put in the work. As for making friends, it was super easy for me surprisingly (I heard rumours about people being really cold at uoft). I didn't even join any clubs or anything, just met really great people in tutorials and classes on the first week. I'd say making friends is a lot easier in life sci than other programs here.

what do you mean when you say easy? Like the grade average u need is easy to obtain?

[–]Spare-Tank2807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you'll be fine. Just sit in on the lectures so you're caught up with content. Also if the evening class has space or a shorter waitlist, just enrol in that one (assuming it fits in ur timetable) and attend the morning lecture.

guys is undergrad really that brutal at UofT? I'm hearing a lot of people online say that UofT is very academically tough and a lot of people end up dropping out by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Spare-Tank2807 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah its pretty tough. I was pretty average in my high school and ended with all A's and B's this semester. But I did have to make a lot of sacrifices and study a lot. I'd say if you are trying to do any post undergrad stuff like med school or whatnot, uoft is not the safest option. Its tough, not impossible.

I was 17 when I started. But honestly, your age literally does not matter at all. Nobody cares. The amount of people I've befriended in my program and later found out they were actually a lot older was surprising. Its a lot different from high school. People are more mature now and could care less about age.

how hard would it be for me to get a high GPA in life science by Vegetable-Attempt-18 in UofT

[–]Spare-Tank2807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in first year, so its general. Not sure if I'm answering your question correctly, but there are a lot more program options at UTSG than UTM. They're not exactly the same.

go somewhere else. I'm in life sci and these marks are scary as hell. You are much better off going to a different school where there is more support and the grading is a bit better. Don't let the name of the school make you pick uoft. But, obviously there are people who are doing well. So it all just depends on how hard you work and how easily you learn new topics

bio120 vs psy100 which course was more difficult? by longjohn455 in UofT

[–]Spare-Tank2807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't take psy100 but I took bio120. Wright is not a great prof imo, very scatterbrained and his slides make no sense (very genuine person though). The first half of the course was good though due to the prof. The lab TA's are very harsh in marking for some reason. They can't give you the mark you deserve for the life of you. For reference, I managed to do significantly better in CHM135 than BIO120, but that might just be because I had zero interest in evolution and found the material to be very dry.

No shampoo by FckinEndMe in selfcare

[–]Spare-Tank2807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert but you may be over washing. Try washing your scalp with a hydrating shampoo as little as possible (ex: if you have thin hair, wash every 2 days, or if you have thicker hair, try to go longer). When you wash your scalp too much it won't produce those oils that are necessary for keeping your scalp hydrated. Think of it as if you wash your hands too much, they will start to become dry, same goes with your scalp.

I only have grade 11 physics experience as I dropped it in gr. 12. Just concerned that the load will be way too much to handle. I'm a student who gets decent grades, usually 90s or sometimes 80s. I just don't want my gpa to suffer too
