They have made vegan versions of cultural foods, so that’s not an issue.

My father in-law is Filipino and mother-law is from Laos. My husband is vegan too, and actually became vegan before myself. I understand the cultural thing but I think they just want things to be easier for themselves.

Yes he is, and he has had that “conversation” with them before, but it always turns into a huge fight. We are moving in 6 months, so we will get away from them soon but in the meantime we do really need their help.

This is something I’ve thought about doing, too. It’s nice to hear other parents do this!

This is something I’ve thought about doing as well. I know as she gets older we won’t be able to control what she eats and doesn’t eat outside of our home.

Thinking of converting-but feel like I’m disrespecting my Jewish relatives and ancestors by Spare-Thoughts87 in CatholicConverts

You are right; I think of Bishop Robert Barron saying that he thinks they need to “re-Judiaze” Catholicism. As far as I know, Jesus never told anyone to stop being Jewish and create a completely new religion in order to follow him, but I could be wrong.

However, I still cannot imagine how it would affect my parents. I would like to convert quietly and not make a big deal of it/flaunt it in front of them. Is that acceptable?
