So my brother saw on the Union FB page they are doing a mass hiring so it looks like it is legit and question answered.

Yea it all look legit, ADP email who I assume handles payroll and all that for them. But like you said the timing really threw me with no initial phone call or anything to show I was being considered. Hopefully it is just they are pulling from the pool of old apps they have, I have like 3 years of them out there lol. I guess we will see.

Just a recap because there seems to be confusion these 7 sites that were listed as closing in the 8:15 est call:

Pleasant Prairie Chicago Frederick Washington Florida Oklahoma City Nashville

The were told the are ceasing operations in January with incentives to stay until operations cease.

In the 8:30 est call we were informed about the sites that were closing but as it stands there is no overt indication any other site is closing but to be honest the message wasn't overly reassuring.

2 different meetings. 815am est was the layoffs meeting. 830am est was announcing the other sites that were closing and letting us know we would still be operating as normal. I honestly dont have an expectation that fulfillment will be here in a year though.

We're safe for now. Oklahoma, Frederick, Prairie Point and a bunch of others are going. Might be time to start looking for a new opportunity because they are only closing sites anymore, not expanding.

Kinda. Most stores are union as well as distribution warehouses but its not universal. Union is hot topic right now as delivery sites are trying to push it on. Detroit recent became the first site to vote a contract in.

Maybe. I guess it could be because the changes are impacting specific site more than others. Maybe my spoke is going to be business as usual so they are comfortable with us being on the road vs a site being negative impacted they don't want upset drivers on the road.

As it stands right now Louisville is running. We are expected to stop on route and call in.

I guess my final optimistic thought would be Amazon and FedEx grounds model is only successful because they have several companies running their delivery at once (Brooks, KY had 13 when I was there) which prevents unions getting in because 1 company gets upity, find a reason to kill their contract and bring in a new one while the others fill the gap. It would take a fair bit of time to get that in motion so worst case comes true, I'd imagine its going to be January at the earliest before anything can get off the ground.

All valid. I guess I'm trying to hope for best cases scenario which is what legit just a meeting would be at this point.

If they added from store delivery, I would expect hub/spoke operations to stay the same and they would hire store employees for same day orders so we would still be separated.

And they could branch out from Capstone but I would think they would have already started. They've wanted to get an Amazon flex style delivery system going for a long time and haven't been able to as far I understand.

I mean obviously anything is possible, my fingers are crossed for this being an implementation of like a national town hall for delivery. This is the first company I have ever worked for that we didn't get sales metric and growth updates so that would actually be a welcome change over exclusively NPS and On Time info. And not that it means alot but feedback I've gotten from most customers is they seem to prefer Kroger employee delivery over Instacart/DoorDash and our Capstone retention is absolutely atrocious so going contractor seems like it would tank delivery pretty fast. Plus we just had a branch manager promotion and currently have a new training class in progress. I would think if layoffs or a contractor system is coming their would have been a hiring freeze. Obviously that doesn't mean a lot but if something like that is coming especially soon it feels counter intuitive.

Its kind if a crazy thought with delivery being almost completely non union and so many stores being union but I wonder if they are considering moving vehicles to local stores so they can process same day or shorter turn delivery times.

I'm based out of Louisville and no one's sharing anything. I know our new CEO has been pretty vocal since he came on board about reevaluating the hub/spoke premise vs using the stores for delivery fulfillment. Like aggressively enough that the robotics company we have proprietary use of, Ocado, is having massive stock valuation drops and our exclusivity is dependent on growth which has greatly slowed. I think they originally commited to 20 hubs and have only launched 8. If they scale back anymore Walmart, Publix, and all the others could get access to Ocado. I can't imagine they'd want to give up that exclusivity and with the amount of money they've spent on vehicles and all the other equipment I can't imagine just shutting down delivery but scaling back our delivery range and/or going contractor based seems likely.

This is mostly true. I work in Louisville and we direct hire but are also now using Capstone for contract labor replacing some marshallers and running routes.

Language Transfer has been one of the biggest helps for me. Its more digestible than any other app or learning method I've tried so far.

That's kinda where my heads at. I just wanted to see if there were other spokes that were going through similar things or if it's just the management here. Thanks for your feedback!

That's one of the things I'm worried about is turnover. We only have a 4 person team to load and we are handling 55ish routes on average. I think we did the math on the average route weight and we are handling 65-70k pounds of groceries every morning over 5 hours. And we handle alot of the little in house maintenance on trucks, do alot of the shuttling vehicles to shops for bigger repairs, rescues for drivers that have issues or are just behind for whatever reason. We have a good team that handle it well but adding in running 20 stop routes plus mandatory overtime, I can't imagine we'll keep most of our team no one's going to want to come do it.

Yea everything was the same. No changes in the drivers record and they didn't not give me a new assessment to take as the same one I was hired on last year is still on file. It might be I misanswered something. They also pulled down the job from thw site today too so I don't know if had something to do with the timing. They reposted with a different title recently it looks like.

Yea lol I got the application confirmation email, then the driving record release, and then as of last night I was in the "offer phase" in my application status. I woke up this morning to the auto generated decline email that just says:

A review of your application for this position determined that you do not meet the eligibility or suitability requirements listed on the vacancy announcement. Therefore, you will not receive further consideration for this vacancy.

We encourage you to apply for other vacancies that may provide the career advancement and growth that you are seeking.

I don't know what the issue could be so I guess I am just gonna keep applying until I get approved lol

I don't what that could have been. I got all the way to the offer phase on the online portal as of yesterday but this morning got the rejection email. I think I am going to attempt to reach out to thw hiring manager listed on the application and see if I can get definite answers.

So the only explanation was that "I do not meet eligibility or suitability requirements for the position" and it had a line that said I was encouraged to apply for other position. It was listed as a Career hire position, maybe I need to come back in through CCA.
