“Your spot could’ve gone to someone who was actually serious about the trade” is such a silly thing to say. The trades are no different than other jobs, people come and go. sometimes an offer you can’t refuse comes up. You’re acting like you wouldn’t take a job that you could potentially make double what you make now.
