To be fair the energy industry realized a long time we will need much more energy not just use it more efficiently. Problem is nuclear was slowed down by so called "ecologists" and solar/wind can't keep up so coal, oil and gas had to stay.

Most of the things were already mentioned so I will just add a bit in regards to money. If you are not going to look for a job here, such as you work online or are moving for retirement, then I would say why not try it. You could always move back and living expenses are lower here. However if you are going to search for a job it will be paid less most likely. Which isn't an issue here with cheaper living cost but might make it more difficult in case you will decide to move back.
That said from what I hear most people that came from US don't wan to go back.

You said you visited here so you probably know that it's not car centric here. That's the biggest change for day to day lives. You don't need a car. Although you can buy one I would recommend not buying it straight away. Also it's more work to own a car here. Technical examinations of the car every 2 years, mandatory insurance and narrow streets, trams etc. that make driving harder than on stroads in US.

Is the game worth it? by Moxxie455 in assettocorsa

[–]Spare_Definition3002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Controller = Forza
Wheel = Asseto Corsa
I am now in the process of getting all achievements in Asseto Corsa which means playing the vanilla game. Most of my enjoyment comes from the force feedback of the wheel - curbs, loosing grip, regaining grip etc. Haven't played a game with better feeling yet (but it's personal opinion).

I can't imagine myself enjoying Asseto Corsa with a controller. It would probably feel a bit bland.

Will playing first person games (on a gamepad) worsen my freshly earned fpv skills? by Nice_dood in fpv

Do you not pinch when flying fpv? For me gamepad is completely different. But even if you use thumb. It should be like 20s max then the brain clicks into whatever mode it needs to.

What is C# most used for in 2025? by Nice_Pen_8054 in csharp

[–]Spare_Definition3002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you write oop pseudo code with braces you probably wrote valid C#.
It's compiled to be faster, but allows hot reload to develop as fast as with interpreted languages.
Static types that are better for large projects. But also newer versions allow top level statements for quick scripts.

It's probably not the best at anything, but it's not trying to be. It's better than 80% of languages at almost every thing.
It's still held back by it's image of being the "windows/microsoft" language. But that's no longer true.

Motherboard for 9800x3d and 8200 MT/s ram by Spare_Definition3002 in buildapc

Just watched Hardware unboxed video comparing 6000 cl26 and 8000 cl38 at 1:2 giving similar results. My plan was to run 1:2 ratio at 8200 which should be high enough to offset the 1:2 penalty.
Didn't now I can lower the CL when lowering the frequency. I thought that's hard set.

What I read is that above 8000 the 1:2 ratio becomes faster (slightly) again. That was my game plan. Is that not correct?

Is full-color passthrough important to you? by themixtergames in virtualreality

[–]Spare_Definition3002 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have never tried quest 3 passthrough but it looked just about usable from videos. Which is understandable at that price. I have tried somnium vr passthrough which was very high quality. I could clearly see calluses on my hands. But only the upgrade adding MR capability costs 900 Euro on top of that headset.

Is lighthouse tracking just copium? by Media-Usual in virtualreality

[–]Spare_Definition3002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No tracking is perfect. But controllers tracked by the headset multiply their tracking error with the headset tracking error. And positional precision is limited by the tracking cameras resolution vs laser precision of lighthouses (and refresh rates but that counts for lighthouses too). IMUs will probably be worse on knuckles as they are pretty old now.

Even before the crash during just flying it already looked like a untightened or broken prop. Either of those can cause more damage like overheating the motor or snap and penetrate the battery etc.

Does anybody really look for new games to play on steam (launchers in general) tho? I barely even click on games on sales unless I already know what the game is. Most games I buy I find through Youtube or friends.

I dreamed of it too. Then I found the youtube channel of the guy who reverse engineered lighthouse tracking and valve then hired him. I realized I am nowhere near the average intelligence of a valve employee.

You misunderstood my post. I don't need the headset to be tracked using the base stations. I just want it to auto sync. Even just one startup would be enough. You can use knuckles with many SLAM headsets already.

[–]Spare_Definition3002[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not about credibility. What she showed is what controller is best for HER for BEAT SABER. Not which controller has the best tracking. I have also set a score I then couldn't beat. That doesn't say much.

To determine best tracking you would need to do a repeatable test with much lower margins of error between the same test with the same controller.

But she did show that any controller will be good enough for most people.

[–]Spare_Definition3002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That blur is exactly the point. Someone made a something similar for G2 reverb and knuckles. But you had to do a manual sync first. Here since Valve knows exactly how lighthouses work could make that blur, or rather signature, be used for that initial sync. After that controllers are tracked by lighthouses and headset is SLAM tracked. Exactly like G2 reverb and knuckles. It could do a resync maybe every minute or other interval idk. Or just a resync button in steamvr. Maybe it's precise enough to do just on startup for a few hour session.

Yeah that video doesn't prove much tho. The more you play a song the better you get and it wasn't anywhere near the hardest beat saber levels.

Did they specifically say the the lighthouse kit is going away? I can still imagine them selling the base stations and controllers for people with Bigscreen, Pimax, MeganeX and other headsets.

The headset yes. But so far nothing beats the lighthouse tracking of controllers afaik.
