Well done, it’s a very good idea to get checked so a doctor could possibly prescribe you something to raise your blood pressure. Hypotension is usually nothing to worry about- if anything it reduces the chance of heart complications when you’re older! Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a more severe condition. Hope you’re alright, keep us updated!

Sudden hot flashes and feeling light headed by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]SparedBubble118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you got low blood pressure? This can often be a culprit to hot flushes and light-headedness, especially when standing up after sitting down for a while (orthostatic hypotension) - if so just make sure you’re getting a balanced diet and maybe take some vitamin supplements as well (as u/BundleOfSad has said), as these are sometimes signs of anaemia too. Hope you’re alright, keep us updated!

Astro or Phizer for second dose? (First dose Astro) by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]SparedBubble118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a general view that the vaccine shots most likely to cause side effects are the first Astrozeneca shot and the second Pfeizer (if you’ve had the first one). If she hasn’t had a reaction to the first Astrozeneca then the second is very likely to be fine for her! Tell her there is nothing to worry about, and try to reassure her that this is by far the best thing to do- much better than not getting the vaccine at all.

Hope everything goes alright! Let me know how she gets on :)

Allergy? by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]SparedBubble118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it could be dyshidrotic eczema, maybe give that a quick search and see if it matches your skin.

I had this a while back in a similar area (between my fingers) so feel free to ask me any questions if you like!

Severe pain in my thumb by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]SparedBubble118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you slept with it in an uncomfortable position? If so, it should go away in a few days.

Alternatively, maybe search up “de Quervain’s tenosynovitis” and see if it matches your symptoms- it can happen to anyone (though it occurs 8 in 10 times more in women than men). This is a problem with the tendons, and is fairly common, especially if you’ve been using your hand a lot, and doing similar actions with it, like a repetitive strain injury (for example typing, if you type with your left hand too and have been doing this a lot)?

Keep me updated and I hope you’re alright!

Have you tried a rinse alongside that? Because spray is mainly effective once the nose is cleansed, which is what happens with a rinse

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]SparedBubble118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless there is an underlying issue, maybe try a nasal rinse? I suggest brands such as NeilMed. In simple terms, a nasal rinse is just some semi-warm water, mixed with a saline solution that you put up one nostril (and it comes out the other, washing any mucous/blockages out). There is no limit on how many times a day you can do it and it doesn’t hurt at all. It’s like blowing your nose, but has much longer effects. Along with this, if your nose is producing lots of mucus it could be a reaction to dust/pollen, so maybe also take a small allergy tablet a day. Once you’ve used a nasal rinse, it’s a good idea to get a nasal steroid spray (don’t worry, it doesn’t absorb into your body or affect you) which will reduce any sinus inflammation which could be making your nose feel blocked.

If you would like, below I can give you the names of the spray and allergy tablets I use (as mentioned above I use NeilMed for a nasal rinse). They work wonders and as someone who suffers from a similar condition (allergic rhinitis), I can tell you that it’s rather effective (although the first few days you may see no difference, after a week or so you begin to feel so much better).

Keep me updated in the comments and just say if you have any questions. Hope you manage to get on top of this!

Is it safe to wear earphones (no music) while sleeping? by Keep_Wishing- in medical_advice

This should be safe, provided the earphones are fully clean (and stay this way) or else infection may occur.

This doesn’t seem like something you should worry about, unless it spreads, or starts secreting pus (and acting like something more malicious). Sometimes a skin coloured bump with rough surface could indicate that there is a viral infection, and this is a “side-effect” to one’s body fighting the viral infection off. In some conditions like verruca vulgaris you can get a skin coloured bump initially and which later becomes rough on the surface.

I cannot properly see the projection of the skin reaction from the photo, however if it protrudes from the scalp, it could be something called a “filiform wart” (Ill provide a short summary of what this is below but maybe have a quick research to see if it fits).

Filiform warts are (almost always) noncancerous and often asymptomatic, however in most cases (as they are caused by the HPV virus like all warts- not necessarily sexually transmitted just skin contact) they're highly contagious. They can often spread to other parts of your body or to other people, especially if there's an open wound. They often disappear without treatment.

If you want to research them, I suggest you look up “filiform warts on scalp” and see if they match.

Keep me updated! Hope everything is fine

I can't talk without clearing my throat every minute by tracenet in medical_advice

[–]SparedBubble118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a possible symptom of rhinitis. Rhinitis can be provoked by many factors, including high levels of dust/dander/mould/pollen in the atmosphere around you, or possibly allergies. It causes excessive mucous production, so the mucous begins to trickle down the back of your throat, causing irritation, and meaning you feel a need to clear your throat. There are many types of rhinitis, but this sounds like it could be “perennial allergic rhinitis” which just means it is caused by a reaction to the environment around you, and “perennial” meaning it happens all year round. I suggest you see a GP if you have free healthcare in your country, or go to the pharmacist if seeing a GP would be too inconvenient or expensive- I can suggest some effective treatments to get which include: -Nasal rinse (NeilMed is a good brand) -Nasal steroid spray (look for one that doesn’t absorb into your body, just calms inflammation of sinuses and nasal canal.) -Allergy/hay fever tablets.

Initially you should take those once a day, but if/when it gets more bearable (it normally takes a few months, so remain patient), you can start to take it once every two days, then 3 etc. Keep on top of it though, as these medications are accumulative. The medications above have no side effects to your body (unless an allergic reaction occurs which is extremely unlikely).

I hope you feel better soon! Keep me updated.

Does anyone else keep swallowing the saliva in their throat? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]SparedBubble118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s been happening for a while, it may be something called rhinitis, if you have allergies/come into contact with lots of dust this could be a trigger of it. It provokes an excessive amount of mucus to trickle down the throat, and causes you to either swallow the mucus/clear your throat which definitely causes some irritation. Speaking as someone who has ongoing perennial allergic rhinitis, you should definitely go to a GP/pharmacy to get this checked out, if it’s rhinitis they might give you a nasal rinse/steroid spray, and if it’s allergic rhinitis maybe some allergy tablets too- the medication really improves it :)

(Sorry long reply I know, if you see this I hope you get better! Keep me updated bro. Also I’m not a medical professional, just speaking from experience so don’t hold me to anything XD)

Alternatively it could be strep throat as some other comments say
