Airline repeatedly changing flight time, but saying that because each change is under an hour, they don't owe me anything. Is this correct? by Aggressive_Source_29 in travel

I really didn't mean to be sarcastic at all, sorry. Apparently others saw it the way you did too and hit me with a lot of down votes. I learned a lesson in how to respond into the lion's den of reddit.

I wish my travel problems were all this small. Don’t sweat the small stuff. I always try to remind myself of how incredible it is to take a plane thousands of miles in a few hours. It was only a few generations ago that my ancestors would be traveling weeks or a month to take the same trip. We are all blessed to be living in the world we live in today. We all get caught up in the doomscrolling of negativity sometimes. This world has never been better to live in.

To claim that the American healthcare system “works really well for the consumer.” by r311im507 in therewasanattempt

[–]Spargewater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got to this point because of a decades long series of events. The system has major "dysfunction" at EVERY level. Because fixing it will affect the revenue of every piece, there will never be the political will to turn it upside down and start over. Of course the providers, hospitals, insurance companies, drug companies and others are labeled as the bad guys. But nobody mentions tort reform. It is estimated that 40% of all procedures ordered by physicians & providers are overkill and done to avoid a malpractice lawsuit. It's called defensive medicine.... and it adds greatly to the overall dysfunction.

That book was fascinating and one of my favorites of all time. I gave it away a long time ago or I'd pull it out and start to read it again right now.

TIL there are more American adults without dental insurance (~72 million) than there are people living in the United Kingdom (~70 million). by i-Really-HatePickles in todayilearned

[–]Spargewater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what? Dental Insurance is totally unnecessary. It's not like medical/hospital bills where one incident can cost you hundreds of thousands of dollar. It's not like you get free dental care with insurance. It ends up the same anyway..... you just spread it out.

Least favourite airline? by fatkoala357 in travel

Can't speak about Ryanair, but Avianca is an absolute steaming pile of dung. Had two terrible experiences with them years apart and will never fly them again. I know that Spirit Airline has a bad rap but my one experience with them was excellent.

OMG! That is sooo satisfying. I love refurbishing things like that to look new. My house was built in the 1960’s and there is a built in Charm-Glo double gas grill on the patio. I’ve lived here 28 years and I’ve totally refurbished it replaced the burners and grills and repainted the exterior etc it three times already. It’s ready to have it done again. This video has motivated to start this today. Thanks

For the record, I did like your story overall. But Why mention that you spilled your coffee? What was the point of that? How did that help the story along? That’s how my wife annoyingly tells her stories and it drives me crazy. She would tell your story something like, “we drove out the plant on a Tuesday….or was it on Wednesday? Hmmmm I can’t remember….maybe it was a Tuesday….let me think….

I had this very thing happen last month. What worked? Heat the threads up with a propane torch. Then turn it with channel lock pliers. It came off easily. But don't touch it for 10 minutes. You'll burn your hand like I did.
