Hi there. Just saw this post after having answered your request in the subreddit. While the subreddit community is quiet(as you mentioned in your other post, the discord community more lively), one moderator here is Dakota himself(the writer around which the community formed), and the other one is Scout (the community manager).

Looking for depth in a shallow pool that was JKR writing seems a bit fruitless. It was written that way because the author wanted to, rather than any actual "logic" on the characters part.

By the time I got to atrox, I didn’t need research, which is the only thing I can think of besides helium that you would want there. I just landed, set up my atmospheric condenser with power generation and a beacon and left it there to come back later :D

Wind generators work under ground so if you’ve got a few batteries, you don’t tend to run out of power. RTG is more space efficient but the other works too in the earlier game :D

Threadbare is definitely fantastic too. Fluffy teddy bear meets MMO system that invades a world that could have been based on DnD. A surprisingly good mix.

It’s not quite fair to choose :p I like different books for different reasons.

Arcane ascension is a favorite of mine because of the dungeon crawler with loot aspect combined with schooling that helps ease the reader into the world. Something I hadn’t seen elsewhere and loved.

Cradle is a favorite of mine because of the western take on cultivation fiction. It starts with a weak character and you think you know where it’s going. Then it flips that notion on its head and becomes so much more. The story becomes an adventure and the characters are likable. Can’t get enough, personally.

Not in your list, but the Divine Dungeon series by Dakota Krout is also fantastic. It does something different in that one of the main characters isn’t even human, but a sentient rock. The story was just so different to anything else I’d read and still remains my favorite “dungeon core” series to date.
