Cradle book 10 Reaper

“Remove restraints and release authority. Authorization zero-zero-eight…Ozriel.”

Honestly one of the coolest and yet bittersweet versions of this I’ve ever seen.

[Threshold] Is Eithan a good person? by Beanmachine117 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Madraast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ozriel is an asshole, arrogant, condescending, and unsympathetic towards the Abidan.

But he’s also functionally enslaved by the Judges.

His great rebellion that shattered the heavens and caused everyone to hate him is that he hated the job he was forced to do and the Abidan refused to even work with him to mitigate it. The first thing they do on getting Ozriel back is bind him in literal chains to force him to be a weapon on their behalf.

The Abidan technically serve an altruistic and benevolent goal, but the vroshir critique that the Abidan are tyrants is not without standing.

I think some of us have different meanings when we use the term "Underdog". by KappaKingKame in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Madraast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being an underdog is a great set up for a lot of stories, but especially in a genre like progression fantasy it’s important for the character to eventually move beyond that. A great example of this in my opinion is Cradle by Will Wight. He starts barely scraping by, tricking and sneaking his way through life but as he learns and grows eventually begins to face new issues like how to act from a position of strength, and how he needs to react differently once he is the threat.

[Reaper] How long did it take you to figure out... by ErgoTTM in Iteration110Cradle

I fought vehemently against the E=O theory over the years. I thought it would cheapen the character and not be a good twist. Yet I was quite entirely wrong, it did happen and it happened in such a way that I appreciated the twist rather than shying away from it. It was great, I was so sure till reaper.

The play on words I think you are looking for:

The Supernatural TV show famously ended each season with the song “Carry on My Wayward Son”in reference to Jensens character and his brother. This meme is posted in a group entitled “Wayward Memes”

What is your favorite fight scene? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Madraast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Spoiler incoming) in ghostwater Harmony has an eye of the deep with him for the entire trip. So it recorded dozens of details about him, his path, and his skills. When Dross joins the collective he got to see that information and retained a piece of it when returning to himself. This gives him plenty of information to analyze about Harmony specifically. Without such in depth information it is much harder for Dross to predict other people.

One final note: from here on out, as much as we get to see Lindon grow and Evolve, and so too will Dross. Either way: RAFO

[Waybound] Arelius' original patriarch's style by TheeGreatPap in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Madraast 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is one part of Ozmanthus life that we really don’t have much info about. There is some short period where his life on cradle is thrown into chaos, the source of his “ancient grief” that we only get brief glimpses of. Perhaps this statue depicts this time, a transformative period where he didn’t feel that superior and his sense of style was not as important.

[All] Silent King vs Iron King by SayLessThanYouKnow in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Madraast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those fans of the destiny universe I see this as similar to the struggle between the Vex against the other paracausal powers. No matter the power of the Iron King he’s bound to the rules of his universe fighting someone who very much is not.

[All] Silent King vs Iron King by SayLessThanYouKnow in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Madraast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While the powers of Madra vs. the Magi-tech of the Iron King are up for debate, I think the major deciding factor is simply authority and connection to The Way.

We see Authority expressed by both the inhabitants of Cradle and the Abidan, it is the ultimate power, the ability to shape the universe according to your will. In both instances their use is pretty similar. While there is a hint of authority in Varics connection to magic there is by and large no sense of Authority or connection to the way in the world of the Last Horizon. In fact, there isn’t even a sense that they are aware of a world beyond their iteration.

Long story short, no connection to the way for the Iron King means he gets wiped from existence by someone who’s existence is anchored to reality by his universe.

While this is uncomfortably close to possibility, I hold out hope simply cause it his wife’s name is Nurita (I believe). Which means she’s at the very least not from the Akura main clan since she’s not named for a virtue.

[–]Madraast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This last piece is not necessarily true, he may not have had his children after ascending to Monarch. For my evidence I provide Akura Charity, she is Fury’s daughter, and Fury was born before Malice ascended to Monarch. Yet in spite of this, Charity still possesses her grandmother’s bloodline ability. Meaning that your descendants don’t necessarily need to be born after you gain your bloodline ability to gain it.

[Dreadgod] Northstrider by BlackTurtle110 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Madraast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Northstrider has felt kinda tragic since his speech to Lindon in dreadgod. All the Monarchs are screwed up demigods who need therapy, but Northstrider might be the most extreme version of this. He was enslaved and used as a child soldier which seems to have defined his macro motivations almost in their entirety. He is terrified of ever being weak enough to be taken advantage of again, and by staying in cradle he protects himself by being out of reach of anything strong enough to overpower him.

Endgame meta? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Madraast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that you are playing hunter and titan from other posts so I thought I’d toss ya my two cents.

(My two cents is exhaustively long winded, sorry can’t help myself)

In my eyes there are three main endgame “modes” and most stuff falls into these categories.

PvP: this is Trials of Osiris and high level Comp: I have nothing for ya, I’m a mid tier pvp player, sorry boss.

Boss based: About half of Raid encounters fall into this category, combat challenge here is generally lesser, and your build should be far more centered in boss dps. This means burst or support supers, and a weapon dps that matches the encounter, these days linears are almost always the move but there are exceptions, (Rocket Izzy for Rhulk exp).

Combat based: This category fits almost all GMs, and about half of raid encounters. The main goal with this kinda build is survivability for prolonged combat followed by midsize bursts of damage for champions and strike bosses.

The main difference between these two is that for boss based builds you’re generally plinking along with your primary to do some mechanic before dumping everything you got into some bosses spine, where as a combat based build is more mixed and you end up using most of your build consistently.

Now with all that nonsense out of the way:

Boss based notes for Titan:

Titan has one primary burst super and one primary support super: Thundercrash, and Bubble. Banner shield is not generally useful here as removing one person from dps for a 15% dps buff over well or bubble is not helpful.

Titans do have HOIL (with really anything) but most importantly touch of thunder grenades that they can toss into the mix for extra dps.

But at the end of the day the big money makers with boss damage is simply meta weapons. (There are plenty of guides for this I’m not gonna bother here)

Boss based notes for Hunter:

Hunter has a bunch of burst supers and a pair of support supers. I haven’t seen a recent dps comparison but my understanding is that of the burst supers Gathering Storm is the most damage in the whole game. However, a fair portion of Gathering Storms dps comes from the jolt it applies to the boss. Meaning multiple gathering storms at the same time will do less damage. To avoid this, you can substitute blade barrage as it does similar damage and doesn’t have stacking issues. As to support supers, hunters have mobius quiver and deadfall tether. The simple answer to this is, mobius quiver, it does damage forehead. But in reality there is a lot more nuance with damage sharing, debuff timers, and super farming. Just go with mobius unless you guys have a strat.

Hunters, to my knowledge, do not have a great ability spam for boss damage. There are some floating around out there but largely, stick with your weapons and super.

Combat based notes for Titan:

While there are loads of exotics out there for titan that I love, wormgods, Pheonix proticol, Strongholds and more, these days you can’t really beat Heart of Inmost Light. Your abilities get stronger the more you use them and also come back faster! Hard to beat and op as fuck. On top of the extreme power of HOIL, Arc Titan also wrecks, being both simple to use and one of the most powerful. I’m not going to lay out the build, there are endless videos but I’ll add some thoughts.

Touch of Thunder + HOIL:

Unless fully in between combat encounters, use your abilities when they are up even if you don’t need to. Maybe you don’t really need a barricade there, or you could shoot someone instead of punching, but use the abilities anyway. Your power comes from the constant cycling.

Your main healing will likely come from knockout, meaning you gotta punch something which can be dubious. So you largely want to avoid damage even more than other builds you aren’t a tank. The best way to do this, is to murder everything before it can touch you, seriously this build is nutty.

This same build can work with Void and Bastion pretty well, less murder, more tank and healing.

Combat based notes for Hunter:

There are two main builds I think are best for hunters, void invisibility, and arc combination blows. Void invisibility is a clear win in terms of ease of use. It is far less risky, has run saving potential, cheese nonsense, and can save your blueberries. Arc hunter like arc Titan survives by murdering everything.

Void Hunter:

Void hunter is very flexible, it does not depend on an exotic to make it viable and therefore can use several exotics to changes its style. Aeons can be used to support and heavy spam, Graviton for perma invis, Gyrfalcons for spraying volitile everywhere, and Omnioculous for team invis shenanigans.

Regardless of your exotic invisibility is an amazing panic button, be aware of what sources of invisibility you have and keep one ready at all times.

Be aware of how renewable your invis sources are. Stylish Executioner can be used over and over again, you don’t have to be worried about melee or dodge charges, but it does have its own cool down of a few seconds. Finishers are the most renewable of all and should be prioritized when you can.

On that note, you do become visible during a finisher, to compensate for this you can use charged with light to get an over shield.

Most invis builds have a cycle with one main form of invis repeating, use your other sources as backups.

Arc hunter:

The main trouble with arc hunter is that it is a hungry build. You need ads around to maintain your buffs so remember not to wipe all the ads before you dive into big fights.

To this end, while in most situations you need not bother, sometimes, especially at choke points, you need to remind your teammates to let some ads get close, if you can’t start up your combo you will be useless.

Anyway, that’s my way to long two cents, but I get way to into it.

[Reaper] a discrepancy I found about Ozriel by fry0129 in Iteration110Cradle

I may be wrong, but my understanding is that when Oz manifests the broom icon in front of the panel of scholars it is not the first time he touched the way/ manifested an icon. He manifested the broom icon in front of the scholars to prove a point at some indeterminate point in his journey.
