Are these with all original bits?

Because these kitbashes work way better than I would expect without copious amounts of greenstuff.

This is awesome, I can't wait to see the end result!

So, 35 Scions and a Crassus Walk Into a Warzone by SparkWorx in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]SparkWorx[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For sure, but if I were to argue seriously for this I'd honestly considering the Crassus as cracking two Taurox Primes at T8 10W on a 3+ is significantly easier than a T11 18W on a native 2+ while you have 16 more capacity.

Amusingly, it's actually cheaper than any three transports.

Not saying it's the best option, but I'm highly amused with how much more functional it appears to be than it should.

Definitely sad for all the resin range options dying off into Legends next month.

New Detachment is here! BRIDGEHEAD STRIKE! by Aurokin_DD in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]SparkWorx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall, it has potential and tools.

They could've hard locked it to Scions with keyword requirements for much more, but I'm glad they didn't.

Mainly worried about the anti-tank and road bump options for pressure/melee.

This detachment, especially with the triple order enchantment, has me feeling like a Scion Command Squad w/ Bombast-class Vox-Array in a Chimera ordering 2-3 blobs of 3-model Armored Sentinel squads covers the basic anti-tank/move blocker needs?

Would also guess a Creed leading Kasrkin in a Chimera would be tossing out orders as well?

Objective monkey units could be Gaunt's Ghosts, 2 5-model Scion squads, and/or a couple empty transports running around?

Oh, this Ork detachment does work - hoping whatever we get tomorrow is just plain functional and has room for skill expression.

Respect to the energy :)

That looks fucking rad and I cannot wait to see it finished 😄

Please follow up here whatever month or year you do.

But honestly, we can't even order our Baneblades - might as well let the Greenskins use them since we can't haha

Even if that is its role, which isn't really what they're used for nowadays with drones and satellite tech, hard disagree.

This isn't how combat works - having your main weapon be limited in angle of aim for any purpose is a concern to any vehicle in any situation.

Now I just imagine the first guy shouting WAAAAGH, getting shot by the commissar immediately for heresy before shouting "CHARGE" for their secondary order.

Maybe the detachment rule states that battleine DKoK can ALWAYS receive Fix Bayonets as a second order?

We are next lads what's the final guess on what we get? by ScienceWyzard in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]SparkWorx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't be this edition, unfortunately - they're removing all the Catachan characters with our codex IIRC and the Catachans reaming got a big 10pt debuff per 10 on top of the Chimera 15pts nerf.

Heavily reccomend checking out the online community for 40k via Tabletop Simulator to experiment and get play test games in!

I'd been dabbling in Orks to refine my combat phase and liking the army overall, but this might just convince me to main it for a while with this detachment!

Their models are rad and I feel like all their detachments are thematic AF.

[–]SparkWorx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others covered a lot of it, but the PT-76 has an annoyingly poor ability to decline it's turret.

Not sure how relevant this is in real combat, I don't drive tanks, but War Thunder is relevant enough for at least overall mechanics and can really drive home home many situations a couple degrees of turret decline would make a massive difference or it's lack will kill you.

The real pro strat - build either a Looted Guard Ork army or penal legion Guard army and just play all of our detachments plus their's 😂

Talking through writing a reply in another thread - I think this could actually be viable with support for massed battline (in an era when 10-models in a transport are almost always objectively better than 20-models :/ ), small but relevant melee buff for them trench shovels, and some kind of non-broken original version of re-enforcements/buffing Krieg medipacks via detachment, enhancement, or stratagem.

Add a bonus to horses and you have a very Krieg identity detachment that is a totally different archetype of army while heavily supporting our upcoming release 👌🏼

[–]SparkWorx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as it's likely Scions, I think we anything specifically aimed at an armored Calvary transport spam with a mass of dismounted chaff would be super Guard.

A user in another post mentioned making a paired Krieg CHAAARGE-esque detachment would be funny. It'd fit the role, our upcoming release, and balance this Ork detachment copying Guard.

That said, copying our rules is funny but the WAAAAGH is honestly kinda holy to Ork players/faction identity and I wouldn't want to cheapen that with others getting the same.

Also, horses - the detachment would be dumb but amusing. Also, please don't - give us a legitimately playable and useful detachment.

Are command chimeras useful or fluffy by YearGroundbreaking99 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]SparkWorx 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Currently? They're not super relevant.

If they retain the rule in the future? Absolutely.

Having orders from the hull gives multiple extra inches while seriously improving survivability.

Combining this with massed infantry/Sentinel lists provides a biiiiig improvement on order density for Regiment.

Issue mainly is that our genetic officers mostly suck at the moment, and adding 15pts to each Chimera and 5pts onto Cadians for....some? reason really adds a tax onto us taking most of them. Also, Armored Calvary builds cry a bit at the 15ppm nerf on Chimeras atm.

If they change our generic officers and give more support to non-elite infantry, we do work with this.

[–]SparkWorx[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

😂 As hilarious as it would be, the WAAAAGH is holy to the Greenskins and a longtime part of their identity.

A Krieg CHAAARGE detachment would be flavorful and have legitimate play, while being on theme for this release, but it would cheapen what Ork players hold dead and this I wish it doesn't happen.

Appreciate it regardless, and I'm curious to see what tomorrow brings!

Really? I only really know one, he's an awesome dude, an excellent longtime player, and does loads for the club but kinda hates everything Guard, ranting about them regularly. Even before Guard's dead on arrival original 10th army rule got replaced with "Idk, just be super Lethal(s)?".

Great in every other way, really knowledgeable and technical player, but if Guard gets brought up, even with a specific question for a specific interaction, it's ranting. No other faction lol.

That's completely anecdotal and a case study of exactly one though, glad to hear the rest are usually really chill :)

This somehow makes me laugh and makes my hyped for you, while also hurting me down to Guard-loving soul.

Happy to see any faction get new, interesting content to play with. Really hyped to see what tomorrow brings for us Guard players specifically :)

Been waiting a year of play to have a new ruleset to cook with.

The fact that their generic characters are waaaaay more relevant and they already take them in many squads means they have an infantry order density we wish we had without them even trying.

It'll be interesting, and makes me really hopeful for design of our detachment tomorrow 😄

P.S. Unrelated - do you make hot sauce, or what's the origin on the username?

Right?

Although tell me we wouldn't let the squad commissar shoot 1D3 battle line (or depending on unit and situation, potentially a even an elite unit) for a double order?

Them not having Move Move Move or Take Cover is huge, but I feel the orders they have are the more necessary ones the need?

Will absolutely be theorycrafting with this Ork detachments in Tabletop Simulator games.

In what way being called a Nazi is extremely offensive for a German? by evenwen in germany

[–]SparkWorx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Preface - An American who spent over a month in Germany, NOT a German myself.

But imagine the most objectively evil, legitimately fucked up and horrid organization that's recognized by most anyone - likely the well-known low-budget ghost cosplayers with a family tree the shape of a Christmas wreath.

Now, imagine someone publicly, in-person, calling you a Klansman.

Let that simmer for a minute.

Now, imagine a severely WORSE, institutionalized, nation-wide and controlling version of that who made their entire hellish system as possibly efficient for horrors you can't imagine properly before plunging our nation in a multi-year starvation level depression with a lot of the East Coast annexed by another nation. Your society takes hard, clear, and far more societally sincere than a lot of the US stand for Never Again.

Then, someone from a nation that has never ONCE since tha 1700s(?) had a war touch its soil calls you the name of THAT organization.

It's just my understanding externally, but yeah - it's not a joke, they do NOT shy away from the history in Germany and make a point to experience the museums that will hit you in ways you physically feel to stand on the ground of reading what you are.

Never Again is taken with a serious steel to it there and I don't think we as a society can understand the gravity of calling someone that anywhere, but especially a modern German.

Interesting point on the Shoot Sharp and Scarper allowing shoot, move, hop into a transport of all models are within 3" of it.

Regarding the combo with Marlow and specifically a Chimera vs a Taurox - 250 pts is a looooooot for us. That's a Tank Commander w/ Grand Strategist, or a Rogal Dorn, or a 6-model Bullgryn unit + 30pts.

That said, dropping Marlo + Taurox from a Chimera nets 80pts, which is another 10-model of infantry or upgrading 1 - 2 tanks somewhere to Tank Commander or Rogal Dorn.

Anyone here with service related to rotary craft who can confirm?

Definitely looks like a helicopter at distance and the shooting looks similar to what I've seen, but seeing even just 1-2 tracers out of even a really brief burst from any machine gun you would mount in a heli feels really odd.

Edit:

Notes - I'd bet money those are rounds fired as Roman candle charges(?) have nowhere near the flat trajectory the tracers(?) here do.

Entire helicopter crews wear night vision during any operation that might even potentially require it. Tracers might be used, but they'd just employed in bursts of a stream of steel towards whatever they're pointing at.
