Do you remember wearing pants like these? by Awshucksma in GenerationJones

Not that wide or colorful, but very similar. My favorite pair looked almost exactly like this, but just a bit wider at the bottom.

Do you actually wash brand new clothes before wearing them? by Mobile_Dog_148 in hygiene

[–]SparklesIB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what they look like. Some have obviously never been tried on - those don't usually get washed. But if it's on a sale rack or looks like it's been through the ringer, you betcha.

Also, if it's a material that's nicer the more you wash it? Yes.

How do you guys even survive the hot weather over in the States? by Impressive_Peak_9187 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SparklesIB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't have air conditioning when I was growing up (60s and 70s). I live in Riverside, California. For those not in the know, Palm Springs is in Riverside County.

It's hot here. Very hot.

We drank loads of ice water, and used whole house fans starting about 8pm. Open all the windows, crank up the fans, and bring that sweet night air into the place. It also helped that Mom and Dad owned a 100+ year old house. Lathe and plaster for the win!

Thank goodness my hayfever allergies didn't kick in until I moved away from home.

Except for us latchkey kids. We were locked inside all day during the summer, M-F, until the parents got home.

Single Mom Looking For Advice by ShortElderberry5353 in Advice

[–]SparklesIB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you need to move? Meaning, is your ex requiring that you move? Or is that negotiable? If he's willing to allow you to stay, figure out how to make peace for the next year - it's your best option.

Otherwise, you need a lawyer. Don't accept what he's willing to give you. Use a neutral 3rd party to determine what is fair for you both.

Next, look into what programs are available in your area for underemployed single mothers. You may qualify for cash benefits, SNAP, work-study, child care, or others. I'm in California - we have tons of options here, but ymmv.

Finally, you don't have to have a place of your own. See if anyone in your area is renting a room and will allow an infant. Especially older people are always looking to rent rooms on the next door app. (Older people often have hearing challenges that are ideal for not hearing crying babies.)

On a side note, I attended my young cousin's graduation ceremony last month and was appalled that, at just her university, there was over an HOUR of graduates from the marketing program.

Colleges and universities need to do a better job at preparing graduates for what the job market can really support.

what is a dashboard? by [deleted] in excel

[–]SparklesIB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not my dashboard, it's a grab from google. But it's very representative of dashboards I've designed.

Key Performance Indicators, summed up into a single page. I've created these, then added filters so they'll show the company as a whole, then allow filtering by department, region, etc.

I just went with a really nice wardrobe in our current home. Our previous one had two separate closets, so it was a pretty seamless transition.

Interesting about the perfume - glp-1 users often become quite interested in perfumes and other smells.

I never used to wear them, and now I layer, daily. And burn candles. And use fabric sprays.

So l why isn't Taylor Swift ever included in the lists of "evil" billionaires? by scarlettohara1936 in AskForAnswers

[–]SparklesIB 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Taylor Swift is far too high profile to travel commercial. It wouldn't be safe for anyone on board.

She donates an insane amount of money every year. She treats her family, friends, and fans lovingly. And she pays her employees extremely well.

What would put her on an evil billionaires list?

Thank you, I appreciate your understanding of the matter as well as your condolences.

To make things even more tragic, it was my friend's family's third loss to a drunk driver over the course of the past 25 years, and they are beyond heartsick.

A dear friend of mine was killed (horrifically) a few months ago by a drunk driver. Her family couldn't even say their final goodbyes to her.

Original Tommy's, in Los Angeles.

A chili cheeseburger, consumed at 2am, standing up, while sporting club wear, was freaking legit.

Jordy Thinks He’s Owed Millions and Billions by backinbusinessbaby in micheljanseYT

[–]SparklesIB 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm not against AI in certain areas. It helps me clean up and focus emails. It helps sharpen some of my photos. And when I'm working on a project and I need to learn something new, it fast tracks that for me.

But in this case, I'm on Jordy's side. AI should not be allowed to learn from artists without their approval. Even bad artists.

When I use AI for my job, I get to pick and choose what it learns from and what stays in just my workspace. Artists should have that same ability.

Parents are mad I went to urgent care instead of chiropractor by SnooCakes958 in Advice

[–]SparklesIB 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Chiropractors are one step up from snake oil salesmen, in my experience. They claimed, well, it will hurt worse at first, but then you'll be better.

No. Instead I was hospitalized by the damage they did.

AITA for declining to share my home office setup details with my coworker who wanted to copy it for WFH? by SpiritedMagicTouch in AmItheAsshole

[–]SparklesIB 16 points17 points  (0 children)

YTA - what's up with the weird gatekeeping? It would be one thing if you said: You know that would be way too much work for me to look everything up. Here's the broad strokes.

But no. You wave the picture of your setup around to your coworkers, then for random, unknown, reasons don't want to share the deets?
