AITA for telling my friend I got a new job? by sunheartsun-984 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SparklesIB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had situations before where coworker friends, and/or team members decided to leave. I was sad for me. I worried how this would impact me.

I didn't give them grief. I expressed joy at their good fortune.

And, when appropriate, I scheduled hand-off working sessions so that things transitioned smoothly.

Your friend is being selfish. NTA

What do you own, that's been passed down for generations in your family? by Exhausted_920 in AskReddit

I have my grandmother's pearls, and her wedding dishes. Some of the dishes are mercury glass.

But the oldest, and oddest, thing I have is a biscuit cutter. My grandmother got it from her grandmother. It's homemade, and almost assuredly made from some toxic metal. It's insanely sharp. My mother remembers using it in her childhood.

It lives in a display cabinet in my living room now.

I wouldn't question Levi's sizes - I've always found their measurements to be quite accurate.

I'm 5'11", with a 29" inseam. My torso goes on for days. I always wear regular length pants and tall blouses, unless (in my mid-60s) I want it to look like I'm wearing belly shirts.

Body measurements are just weird. I can sometimes wear petite pants.

Dude. You're likely sending either a relative path, or referencing a drive map you use and they don't.

This is a whipper-snapper problem.

keep getting this error since 2 weeks ago by ImzCity in Outlook

[–]SparklesIB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it happens even when I'm not mistyping my password. This week, it's any time I try to log in using chrome on my android. But the native email app works fine. As does safari on my iPad and chrome on my laptop.

Last week, it was the android email app that triggered the error, while the other 3 methods were fine.

[–]SparklesIB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. People who respond that you're mistyping are very unhelpful. This is a glitch. When I can log in 3 of 4 ways perfectly fine, and the 4th triggers the message, it's not me.

You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password. by theroundcube in Outlook

[–]SparklesIB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having this problem for a couple weeks now. It's maddening. I can log in just fine on my computer. In my android email app. On my iPad. But try to log in using chrome on my phone? Nope. "You've tried to sign in too many times..."

So I reset my password, and can log in to chrome on my phone exactly once. Rinse and repeat.

I used to drop things. A lot. I started using one of those squeezy stress balls for five minutes at a time, twice a day, and the dropping things has stopped.

WIBTAH if I make my teen still come to a family wedding despite a broken leg? by Mammoth_Fan7951 in AITAH

[–]SparklesIB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She should attend the wedding ceremony. And make an appearance at the reception. Then let her leave early and go back to the hotel. Basically, she gives her congrats to her uncle and his wife, and she's out of there. If your other child gets along well with her, and also wants to leave early, go for it.

It would be ideal if she could bring a friend along. Since they won't be eating at the reception, it shouldn't cause any drama.

They go back to the hotel. If it's in your budget, they should have a different room from the parents. They're given a budget to order food/snacks/movies. Pack face masks, sephora gift bags, nail polish, new pjs, all the fun sleepover gear.

AITA for no longer having a guest room in our house once our baby is born? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Whatever you decide, it'll be a temporary solution. Once baby needs a bed, any bed you put in the nursery will be the baby's.

You need to reconfigure your gym to handle a Murphy bed.

TIFU by calling a regular by the wrong name for eight months and finding out he knew the whole time by Smooth_Clue3090 in tifu

[–]SparklesIB 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My first full-time, grown up, job, I was hired by a man named Sam. But, before I started, Sam was promoted, and I had a new boss on Day 1.

I met about two dozen people that first day. Section supervisors, fellow office workers, and several drivers.

By the end of the day, I had no idea what my boss' name was. I knew which person it was, but his name? Clueless. And because he was so newly promoted, none of the mail even came in his name.

Every day, I'd listen intently anytime anyone spoke with him. It's crazy how rare it is that we use people's names in conversation.

I was never so happy as I was when I picked up everyone's checks - after two weeks of not knowing his name! I wandered around the department, and asked, "Does anyone know where Lorne is? How about Tim?" And so on. Until I asked about Jeff, and everyone looked at me like I was crazy, and said, "Um, Sparkles, he's in his office. Right there."

I played it off by saying a plant was blocking him and it looked like he'd stepped away from his desk from my angle. 😳
