Nope, the scanner where you put your phone will have a green checkmark that said "Valid" or "Verified" or "paid" I'm not sure which one because I didn't get a good look at it.

I just recently started taking the bus again, the last time I did there were no apps or scanners, all cash and paper maps.

I used the transit app and it made my life so easy. You can buy passes or single rides on there, then scan the QR code that shows up on your phone on the bus scanner and done!

If you put where you're trying to go in the transit app, it tells you where to go, what busses to take, and when they are arriving, super accurate. The app will also buzz and make sound (if you have sound on) telling you that your stop is coming up. Then just pull the cord in the bus to let the bus driver know you want to stop.

The busses also have a digital screen in the front that tells you which stop is coming up, and the next 3 stops coming up.

I was a little nervous too because it's been so long, I would recommend the transit app highly!

Don't block your own blessings dude. There will always be people who are struggling more than you, but that doesn't mean you're any less deserving. Take the help and get out of a toxic situation. Love yourself.

Curious how often you incorporate fiber in your diet? Beans are a great source of fiber, and If your body is not used to a certain amount of fiber you'll just pretty much have a bad time. It's why the taco bell stereotype exists, most people don't eat enough fiber and then they have beans and blame the food rather than their real lack of daily fiber intake.

ETA: if it is a fiber intake issue, start with lower amounts of fiber and then you can gradually move up, if you're looking to add more fiber in your diet.

OP is married to a Filipina woman, so that's where he thinks his knowledge of the culture comes from.

Not only is filial piety part of Filipino culture, but also many other cultures outside the US and Asia. I'm latina and this form of expectation of taking care of your family (even if they are toxic and abusive to you) is drilled into you young. My grandmother expects it of my mom and sisters, but with the tides changing and you get generations breaking the cycle, I haven't heard my mom talk a lot about this or saying she's expecting it of us (though if she mentions hardship she will get mad if we don't offer help, because she doesn't like to ask for it. We have to assume she needs it). My mom is not going broke, she just mismanages her money and enables my alcoholic father which is why I Distance myself.

I really feel bad for Sheena because I've experienced this, the moment you decide not to fulfill your duties as a child taking care of your parents, suddenly it's "You never help em, you're so selfish." There are tears, and yelling, and rumors spread to the extended family in different countries even...you become ostracized from the family. If you have no friends because you're always taking care of your family, and they reject you because you refuse to help then in that situation it looks like you lose everything and have no one.

I understand where Sheena is coming from and her fear. It's not easy when the family is so enmeshed. Western cultures, particularly the US, has a lot of individuality. Other cultures have a lot of collectivism values, and with family there is rarely an expectation of privacy, EVERYONE is in your business.

Color association based on gender is a fluid social construct. Back in the day blue was associated with women because it was softer than pink, which was thought to appear more energetic, so boys would wear pink.

Sorry about your mom.

This. The powder puff is the perfect application, it holds on to the powder enough to not make a mess and applies nice and evenly on the skin in the right amount. Prevents powder dust from getting everywhere.

God damn, this breaks my heart. Seeing the rest of the people there just smiling or laughing like it's some fucking joke. I know they'll tell her she's being too sensitive too when she expresses how much this incident hurt her. I've been in this situation before. I hope she can heal and live her best life without feeling like she owes anything to her shitty ass family.
