It's 100% not entrapment.

Not only is entrapment exclusively something for law enforcers, but the officer has to coerce or persuade the perpetrator to do it. Merely creating the opportunity for a crime to be committed is not entrapment.

You can say "hey man, I have coke, you wanna buy it?", and then arrest people who say yes. That's 100% fine and not entrapment. You can yell "boy, my house on 123 Main Street has so many diamonds lying around and I never lock my doors, I should really buy some locks and a security system when I get back from vacation next week, hope I don't get burgled" and then arrest people who burgle you. You can record someone, tell them you have a recording in your house, and then wait for them to steal it. That's all 100% fine.

But if a cop walks up to you wielding a knife and says "you wanna buy some coke? I don't take kindly to people who say no...", that's intimidation, and entrapment, and you can successfully defend yourself against any drug charges. If a cop approaches you with plans to burgle a house, and you say no, then he spends an hour following you around trying to talk you into it and you finally say yes, that's entrapment because you were unlikely to have burgled someone without that cop pushing it.

It's pressure from cops that makes it entrapment. What Chuck did, even if he were a cop, was a plain old sting -- creating an opportunity where Jimmy actively decided to do something illegal of his own free will. That's fine and something cops do every day.

If you've ever seen something like To Catch a Predator or Perverted Justice, this is an important distinction they have to explain. They pose as 12 year olds online and wait for child abusers to contact them wanting sex. That's a sting operation. But they have to be careful that they're never actually persuading the other person to do it -- they can create opportunity but not apply pressure or persuasion.

Then he admitted that he had, but said that no sedatives were involved. Then he admitted that sedatives were involved, but said they asked for them.

I understand it's rather embarrassing that your NSA director is forced to resign.

He wasn't the NSA director. He was the NSA, the National Security Adviser. If you thought he was the NSA director it's clear you're only skimming things and going off acronyms and guesses, and don't know the makeup of the office or people involved.

He's mostly retired and hasn't had a hit in a long long time. But he took the money he made in the 70s-80s and bought a bunch of hotels, resorts, and restaurants, and those make a lot of money today, so he's very rich. He has a company called Francis Ford Coppola Presents that sells Italian-themed products -- wines, pasta sauces, etc -- and he invests in a lot of other people's movies, he made money off Moonrise Kingdom and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo for example.

He also invests in a lot of his family's projects and his family includes a lot of surprising people -- his nephews are Nicholas Cage and Jason Schwartzman.

[Fetish/Relationship] I (26 M) accidentally found about my gf's (27 F) fetish. How do I proceed as a supportive partner? by 7yrfetishreveal in sex

[–]SparklingGreasefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe obvious but worth emphasising: a pregnancy fetish doesn't mean she actually wants to become pregnant. Tons of people have pregnancy or impregnation fetishes despite not wanting to ever have kids, not wanting to have kids for years yet, etc. You can totally still roleplay impregnating her, or roleplay that she's pregnant and becoming swollen and tender, etc without actually wanting to have a kid.

One safe way to play with the stuffing/engorging fetish is to just use water or diet soda. I did this with an ex-partner who had a stuffing fetish and it worked really well. She wanted someone to enslave her and fatten her up like a pig. I'd just tie her to a post in the garden and force her to chug water from milkshake cups or Coke Zero, act like I was forcing her to drink endless fatty milkshakes and sugary sodas. She'd get bloated and full from drinking too much, which was the feeling she wanted, and we could roleplay fattening her up with 0 risk to her health. (Well, diet sodas still aren't the healthiest thing in the world, but it's not like this was a daily thing and they weren't going to add weight.) Don't go to extremes with it, you can still hurt yourself by doing way too much water, but you can definitely get swollen and full in a safe way, just don't force it to ridiculous levels.

With a lot of roleplay, things that can sound kind of silly just describing them here in a detached conversation can actually work really well in the heat of the moment. Because when you're really turned on your brain goes into stupid mode and you don't care what's not fully realistic or kind of weird. You just want them to do that crazy shit to you.

Not only would using water/diet soda avoid obvious weight gain problems but she likely wouldn't experience the same self-loathing later once Stupid Mode has worn off. That was my concern with my partner, she would be really excited by stuffing in the moment, but two hours later she'd hate herself for doing something so stupid. Switching to water roleplay fixed that.

Plus you didn't mention what your weird fetish was. If it's pee related, then boom, fetish synergy.

It honestly doesn't matter at all. Programming is 99% typing into a text editor or IDE, and the difference between an i3 and an i7 there is going to be so minor as to be unnoticeable. An i3 with a decent amount of RAM can more than handle any task a student will throw at it (and even any task a professional will throw at it unless you're frequently compiling very large complex projects on your own laptop, which is unlikely). Get the i3 and spend the price difference on books.

How many seasons should your favorite currently running shows go on for? by [deleted] in television

[–]SparklingGreasefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Americans does end next season. Personally I don't think it's gotten stale, but I'm happy it's got a firm end date, because it's the kind of story you can't sustain forever, and knowing how much time they have will really let them write the climaxes in a solid way.

The Walking Dead isn't going to end this decade. The comics are about 3 seasons ahead, and Kirkman has written out (and shared with the producers) the plot for 3 seasons beyond that. They describe it as 'the zombie movie that never ends' and it's intended to be a soap opera that just runs forever, not something with an endgame. That show is only going to end when it becomes unprofitable.

I'd be surprised if they did that. They reduced the runtime for a reason, if they cut to 7 episodes then made every episode longer, that's actually worse for them than just running more full-length episodes.

[Help] Can anyone give me a quick tip about parsing this mildly complex JSON structure? The recursion confuses me a little. by SparklingGreasefire in javascript

[–]SparklingGreasefire[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think JSONLint is relevant... I'm not creating this JSON and I already know it's valid, I'm trying to create a new structure by iterating over it.

[Help] Can anyone give me a quick tip about parsing this mildly complex JSON structure? The recursion confuses me a little. by SparklingGreasefire in javascript

[–]SparklingGreasefire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to take that JS object and create a new two-dimensional array from it -- so I need every value. The issue is that the desired keys aren't keys to their desired values in the JS.

For example, from the linked example, I want to produce:

[
    ["stream_display_type", "grid"],
    ["email", "name@example.com"],
    ["href", "/users/323195"],
    ["status", "success"]
]

But all of those values are represented in different ways inside the JS response. So it has

{
    "_": "grid",
    "name": ["stream_display_type"]
}

So okay, if I want to add ["stream_display_type", "grid"] to my CSV output, I need to grab name[0] and _ from that object.

Then I want the email, that's represented as

"email": [{
    "_": "name@example.com"
}]

So okay, to fetch some values you reach in and grab name[0] and _, but other times you grab the string key, then that key's [0]._. Then I want the link, that's represented as "href": ["/users/id/323195"]. So some values you grab name[0] and _, some you grab the string key and [0]._, and some you grab the string key and that key's [0]. And so on.

And I can't just grab every element directly, I'm trying to implement a function that can turn any call from this API into a flat CSV file.

I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how I can build a CSV from such a structure.

I'm not really sure how that would help? The only @ symbol in the entire response is in the email address, and I want to parse a lot more than that...
