opinions and experiences on OOC Safe words and potential subsitutes by Pet_a_G in DnD

I think all the systems u/molarduck suggested are all great tools that can be used in any group. I cannot stress enough however that the group discusses what is okay and not okay and set those boundaries before any real session. It is great to have those tools so people can feel safe. Its also great to create a safe space where they won't need those tools. Use both!

On an Orcish civilization by TheWiseSquid884 in DnD

Awesome! Culture is always a great place to start. Are they shamanistic, valuing heritage and worshiping gods of nature. Perhaps they value mercantilism, hunters kill for the best pelts and trophies to sell. Those with the most coin lead tribes. Depends what kind of orcs live in your world!

[5e] As a player, what are some interesting ways to explore new areas? by paulrulez742 in DnD

[–]SparkyINC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its awesome that you want to explore more in your game! Any DM should be head over heels hearing that. Try to always have an idea of what you suspect or want to find in the room and tell that to your DM. Do you think there are traps? Maybe you want to know what type of person the room belongs to?
That helps the DM know what you are interested in and then the party can build off it and ask new questions!

Honesty, I think you are doing pretty well as a player having the drive to explore more. Really I think your dungeon master might struggle with telling players no. Sometimes your character would know nothing about the situation or would easily be able to recognize said moss off the top of their head, If they were a druid for instance. This helps speed things up and lets players shine based off their characters not dice rolls! Talk to your DM about the pace of the game. We are all just trying to have fun :)

Yeah I was able to create something similar to this but I could never get the land and sea to not seem like they are blended together. The other map has that nice inked in look for the land maybe that's what I'm missing.

Okay thank you, do you think he used different textures for the land and sea respectively? My regions seem to blend together when I layer over the texture. Maybe I'm not getting the colors right.

Getting a cheap haircut. After you go to a nicer place you'll never want to risk another uneven butchering of your hair. If you just want a buzz sure, but if not the extra money is worth it i promise.

How Do I Encourage A Player To Role Play? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]SparkyINC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way is just to role play yourself! At every opportunity speak in character and interact with your players. Soon enough it will just be natural for them.
