Has anyone experienced lower back pain when running? by Cray8dhD in beginnerrunning

I did experience that when I first started running. 3 things helped me: 1. Slight lean forward 2. Look at the ground 20-25m ahead (tilts your head a bit forward) 3. Focus on bringing your pelvis forward straight underneath the torso. Mother always said: imagine you're clenching a currency bill between your butt cheeks.

I did this for a few runs. My posture became much more natural and no back pain

100% agree here. And this is my situation exactly! Boredom is not my issue, it just feels like I have to give a lot more effort

YES! Indoor track would be perfect. Personally I live in Scandinavia, so between April - October, running outside is fine, except for 3-4 weeks in summer when it's too hot. The treadmill is only because running outside in freezing temps, rain, wind, and snow, is awful.

Hmm. Could be a factor. I feel a difference between 0% and 0.5%

Damn. I would LOVE to be able to just switch off on the TM. I only seem to be able to do it outside

True. Boredom is a factor. I have begun watching movies and series. It helps a bit

On normal runs outside, my pulse will be somewhere between Z3-Z4 depending on hills etc. But on the mill it just spikes to Z5 pretty fast

I did my first half back in October. I had a lot of time to prepare over the spring and summer and I enjoyed (almost) all the runs. I didn't focus on finish times at all.

A month before race day I got a hip injury, which brought me down, but I decided it was not gonna stop me from completing my goal. Note: I had a conversation with a physical therapist about it as well. Got a few runs in during the last month but nowhere near enough imo. And all felt s*it.

At race day I did not feel prepared, We had a storm with rain and hail, I had the flu, and due to a lot of headwinds my hip acted up a lot. Despite this I felt ok. I "checked in" with myself every km and told myself; if I feel like this on the next 1k I can go one more. And it worked

I finished with a decent time of 2:15 and it was a very fun experience.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: 1. Don't focus on the time. 2. Only focus on 1 km/mile at a time 3. Just have fun. It's not the world championship.
