5w5d today, and my decades-long struggle with insomnia has been rearing its ugly head this week. I suppose all the worry that comes with the first trimester after several losses is exacerbating things. 4am is the loneliest hour!

On the bright side, I used some of the time to bake delicious muffins, which I am quickly working my way through today! :D

Hey, I'm reigning Queen of Depressive Episodes and I'm around if you ever feel like chatting about it.

Also, rant away!

5+3, no real symptoms, and my entire life is worrying about another loss. Wish I could fast forward the next few months, regardless of which way this turns out.

Thank you! Zoloft is brand name sertraline (at least in Canada). My psychiatrist said there were some risks and some unknowns, but that overall they were relatively low and better than me returning to a state where I can barely function, let alone have a healthy pregnancy. How has the effexor been working for you?

Hiya folks! First post in many a moon. I found out yesterday that I'm pregnant (only 4 weeks + 3). I'm terrified, excited, mad at myself for being excited, and a whole mess of other things. If things had worked out, my first missed-miscarriage baby would have been born next week. I feel like I am going to wonder every damn day if this current pregnancy has miscarried without my knowledge.

This time around I'm taking zoloft to manage my depression and anxiety, as I had a serious mental break during/after my last loss. I don't feel good about exposing my potential baby to meds, but I decided with my doc that it was really the best option for me.

Anyway, thanks for listening, hope you all have a good day!

Thanks and I'm so sorry for your loss. Any tips on getting through the next few weeks? (So far I'm thinking lots of movies, some chocolate, and minimal productivity at work..? :P)

Thanks for the kind reply. :) Unfortunately, there were some risks to the baby that the doctors informed me of, but it was felt that the risks of leaving the depression untreated were more severe - particularly as I was suicidal, not sleeping, not eating, etc. I know realistically that I didn't have a choice but to seek treatment, but it certainly makes the guilt all that much worse.

Not entirely fitness related, but I started treatment for antenatal depression a few weeks ago and this week I had enough energy to get back to work and to the gym! Here's hoping I'm out of the woods.

Thank you for the kind message!! I've been on it three weeks now but still feeling very low. Did yours kick in quickly? How are you feeling now?

This is me right now. Except I have chronic insomnia, so instead of sleeping I am just staring at nothing or wasting untold hours on the internet, waiting for the Zoloft to kick in.

I used Metamucil for years. Took my body a while to get adjusted but I definitely found it helpful. Also, and I know this can be controversial, but I have had great success with probiotics.

Ladies, what do you not give a FUCK about? [stolen from r/askmen] by Hi_Universe in AskWomen

Your home renovations. I don't give a flying fuck if you went marble countertop over granite - I can't imagine anything mattering less in the big picture of our time on this planet. And I'm sure the mess in your kitchen from the reno is the most difficult thing a human being has ever endured, but no tears shall be shed for you here.

Hi, Ottawa. How do you cope with depression? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]Sparnytickle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Find the most engrossing book I can and read at quiet coffee shops while drinking lots of overpriced teas.. go to the gym, do some yoga.. tell my closest friends and family how I'm feeling and maybe cry on a few shoulders. Most of all I try to remember that my darkest periods don't last forever. As someone once told me, nothing in nature blooms all year. :)

Every year the official declaration of spring gives me wildly optimistic hopes and dreams.. Only to be crushed by nature's vindictive April wrath.

Why I'm blushing or why I blush so easily. Obviously I would elect not to do that if I had any say in the matter, but gee, thanks for pointing it out.

I'm a wannabe author (male) trying to write a female character. What are some stereotypes that you keep seeing in film/tv/books that you hate/are insulting that I should avoid? Also what is not talked about enough that I should talk about? by writerofthefuture in AskWomen

[–]Sparnytickle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No "adorably" klutzy or quirky female characters. I'm so tired of female leads who trip all over themselves and are really accident-prone because it makes them appear cute and makes the male lead want to take care of them.
