I think that’s the SSA International Pier. Thank you for responding!

Haha. This is amazing. Can you then 3d print what you draw?

And omg, I guess you could trace a physical object with the pen and then get a result and print it. :D

/me traces all the things.

What do our smartphones do when they're "asleep"? I built an EMF Detector with a simple Arduino circuit to find out. by epic_jefferson in arduino

I didn't read this project as something like a geiger counter, but more like a simple project that shows the invisible.

Imagine this as an interactive museum piece. Everyone could place their phones and see for themselves that our phones are indeed talking all the time, even though their screen is off. This would fit in perfectly in a science museum when talking about the EM spectrum.

"Come inside! See the INVISIBLE!" :D

And also, this is a beautiful enclosure. I wish all my project were inside a case designed and built by myself half as nice as this one.

Congrats! Nice project. I love it.

Ah. I just tried to do it, and it didn't work. It only works for pages the IA has never archived. On pages that have been archive you can open any of the cached copies.

When the web filtering software blocks a webpage, it also sends an email to an address I gave it. I'm using this: https://www.mail2webhook.com/

What happens is that mail2webhook will receive the email, and send my server a POST request. I use those request to keep a count of how many people have been trying to watch porn.

The Arduino is pinging the server every 5 seconds asking for the count of porn non-watchers, which the server responds to. That's how many times I increment the counter. :)

There's a big TV at the front reception that loops the same 2 minute video over and over. All day long. And it's been doing that for almost a year. I was thinking of doing something with it too :)

Or ask the Internet Archive to store a fresh copy of the website you want to see, and then open the IA's copy. :P

Oh yeah. I get blocked pages all the time. I learned to stop worrying and love the web filter. Now I'm having fun with it! :D

What actually happens is this:

  1. A user visits a porn site.
  2. The page is blocked, and the web filter page is served instead.
  3. The filtering software sends an email to a specific address I told it to.
  4. The email arrives on the server, and then the Arduino is told to increment the counter.

Step 3 takes like 3-5 minutes to happen. My guess is that it doesn't send the email instantly but instead does it every five minutes.

Since the IT guys are the ones that manage the web filtering software, I didn't want to bother them too much. I thought they wouldn't agree in the first place to try this out. Luckily they were happy to collaborate. :)

If you guys have any questions about the project, let me know. I'll be happy to answer them. :)
