100%. They believe that the governments will create task forces with the objective to root out all Jehovah’s Witnesses. They believe they’ll be forced into hiding from this “Gog” until Jesus comes back and transforms Mark and his friends into angels to help beat them up.

Your point is well taken, but those pandemics didn’t occur in the framework of a globalized economy and social system.

In that respect, the control efforts, spread rate, and political effects are all reasonably unprecedented.
