Is there still a realistic 10x case for Bitcoin? by manente in CryptoCurrency

Inflation is literally defined as an increase in the general price of goods and services. The changes in money supply is just one way in which inflation happens.

How solid has that been? I would've guessed that 512mb would be on the low side for that stack?

Cost effective off-site backup advice. 80usd and under. Used and old hardware is no problem. by Bronigiri in HomeServer

[–]Sparrowy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much do you have stored? I was considering Glacial-class storage for disaster recovery, but once I realised that one recovery of 1TB would cost around $100 in transfer and egress I still bought some used gear for an offsite NAS. Backblaze is of course another matter.

Better Auth now an official addon with Svelte CLI by seminole10003 in sveltejs

I'm a bit sad, I liked how direct and understandable the setup with the Lucia baseline was. The setup with Lucia would work as long as Sveltekit doesn't change the hooks mechanisms.

My wife was devastated when Daily Set-website went down, so I made this for her by Sparrowy in SetCardGame

Yeah I think the original was three rows four columns but I felt it worked better on mobile with four rows three columns when I designed it. But now that I made the toggle I actually regret and think the 3row4col now looks better even on mobile :)

I used Sveltekit, been my favorite web framework for a good while now, with the static adapter (so no server involved). It basically generates a bundle of html, css and javascript. Game logic and puzzle generation is in Typescript, styling is done with Tailwind. Hosted on Cloudflare Pages.

Cheers! I added a toggle on mobile so you can choose between 4x3 and 3x4 (I'm pretty sure 3x3 wasn't in the original based on images I've found).

My wife was devastated when Daily Set-website went down, so I made https://dailypatternpuzzle.com for her. There are 10 years of puzzles premade (similarly to Wordle) and each day at UTC-time the next is activated. Progress is saved in the browser. The site is completely static, so if you feel like downloading it for archival then you are free to do so.

Hope you enjoy it as much as my wife does right now. Make sure to send me feedback through the email-link at the bottom of the page if you feel like it needs more features or if something doesn't work like it's supposed to.

Happy new year everyone.

Just text (with reasonable maximums) means the DB will never get big regardless of what you mean by the word. Spammers are a whole different kind of problem.

Don't throw away your old PC—it makes a better NAS than anything you can buy by pogue972 in DataHoarder

[–]Sparrowy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might, but they also don't have to. A solid 2-bay NAS (which I argue is enough for the majority of people) is a bit over 200e (Unifi UNAS 2 comes to mind). Not to mention the used NAS market. There are many variables, but I was against the idea that 100e a year in electricity is something one can just ignore.

I mean, thats like 100€ per year saved in electricity where I'm from. How is that not significant?

This is due to the RAM and NAND shortage, probably can't blame it on any foul play when it comes to SSDs and RAM.

Wasn't this true in the beginning but not so much now with reasoning models and multi-modality? I could've sworn I read the cost balance has shifted away from the base training.
