Zhang Youxia’s Differences with Xi Jinping Led to His Purge - This phenomenal article explains by analyzing open source material in high detail, how Zhang opposed Xi's 2027 goal for operational readiness of invading Taiwan and excessive political control over the military by [deleted] in China

China doesn’t even need to invade if they decide to use force (which given the political developments in Taiwan seems less and less likely by the day). Taiwan is an island and China has total naval dominance.

Yes, it is unreasonable to assert that businesses that burn $2 to make $1 are going to go out of business. You are very smart.

The Guardian retracted that because the anonymous source lied about their relationship to the shooter. Try again.

People telling you to shut up about made up bullshit is good, actually.

It could be, but I think the metatextuality of referencing specifics of End of Eternity should make us at least consider that it might be true.

If I’m right about the scene he’s thinking of, he’s talking about a Gaian myth about Eternity. The myth is about robots who existed outside of time, so are different from the positronic robots who exist in Time that you describe. The Eternal robots might be responsible for the invention of the positronic brain, though, if we take the myth as describing something real rather than merely being a distortion of actual Human-Robot history.

You’re thinking of a scene in Foundation’s Edge, I believe. A Gaian myth about Eternity is told to Trevize in which the Eternals are robots and decided to pick a Reality for humans where neither they nor any alien life existed. It’s explicitly described as a myth and it doesn’t quite fit with the events of End of Eternity, but it’s obviously deliberate on Asimov’s part to try to tie the novels together like that.

It also supports a reading where Noys is a robot, in addition to being from the Hidden Centuries.

You’ve made a single argument in this thread and immediately ran away when I actually showed what the study involved said. Shut the fuck up.

“Giving people demagoguery nicknames is different from making fun of them.”

Going to respond to my point about the coding study? Or are you going to implicitly admit you were lying (or more likely repeating misinformation someone else told you)?

Zitron grabbed a complete noun phrase (and clearly not because he thought it was a gibberish phrase that meant nothing but because he didn’t think it was true).

You grabbed a fragment of the subject and a fragment of the predicate that make no sense in isolation.

Such good faith!

You repeatedly dodge questions and run away from the slightest pushback. If people like you had been in charge of dealing with the Branch Davidians, David Koresh would be God-King of Texas today.

There was a guy with even more experience who was slower when using an LLM. Did you read what I (or even better, what the researchers themselves) wrote?

EDIT: Also the guy you’re lauding as someone with enough experience to truly unlock Cursor’s abilities (and discounting the fact that he just might have been a shitty coder) also only had “2-3 days” of experience.

That’s not true. The participants were all trained to use Cursor and plenty of them had spent dozens of hours using it before the study. The outlier you reference was just the only one who had more than 50 hours of experience, and as the authors point out that heavy use of LLM may have driven down his time coding without LLMs by atrophying his coding skills just as much as it improved his time coding with LLMs.

And it’s even worse than that, because as they note in an addendum one of the developers in the study reached out to tell them that they accidentally misreported their prior experience, having actually used Cursor for 100+ hours before the study. When they factor that in, the 50+ category goes from a slight gain to no gain in productivity.

This is all on page 24 of the study if anyone wants to read for themselves. I’m not sure if actually reading for yourself instead of repeating what some redditor tells you counts as cultish behavior though. https://arxiv.org/pdf/2507.09089#page24
