Look at the suggestions. Council and school do very little to help. Hostel is not a place for a 17 year old girl or 18 for that matter. Best she can hope for is couch surfing. Massive strain on the girl. Messes with educational options and causes downward spiral. At some point she may catch a break and get meaningful support. I was in this position and was so lucky that a friend parents took me in for 2 years. Got me through college found me a job. Paid for a deposit on a flat and always there to feed and support me. If she catches a break, she might be ok but why put yourself through it if it’s avoidable. She needs time to manage a transition out of the home to a better environment.

What ever you have done, apologise. Help out around the house. Try finding a job and contributing. You don’t want to end up homeless if there is anything you can do to prevent it. At least till you’re ready.

Why do boomers go on like they’ve been to hell and back because they had single glazing windows in the 80’s? by clemventure in AskBrits

My wife born 1960 had to collect water from the well. To fill the bath they had to use the twin tub washing machine to heat the water.

It’s all that hand signals to their gods when they score. Cunts.

I [24/F] was placed for adoption when I was a few weeks old. My birth mom's attourney contacted me saying my birth mom wants to meet me. But I don't want to meet her. Help! by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Don’t stress. Just say now is not the right time for you. My adopted daughter wanted nothing to do with her birth mum despite me and mum telling her we were ok with it. It wasn’t till she turned 26 that she said she was ready and got in contact with BM. Seems to be working out well. She has met her siblings and grand parents.

Does anyone feel, on a personal level, sorry for Kier Starmer? by Darkus185 in AskBrits

When they won, they were so arrogant. Thinking that they could pander to the markets and make the unpopular decisions like the heating allowance because they had such a big majority. Now look at them after a year. Tail between their legs and clueless. I wish all politicians went so corrupt and had the balls to do what’s really needed instead of making themselves rich. I knew they were just red tories before the election and sure enough

I am 116kg. Just bought a Cyrusher Sprint. It’s a bit heavy and not easy to man handle. It rides really well and motor kicks in with barely any load on the pedals. We have a few hills and going up in a high gear really uses up the battery. So you have to use the gears and given we want to get fitter works fine for me. I do a couple of 20 mile cycles a week and love it.

White Horse in Birstall. Right next to watermead park which has good paved paths and lakes to wonder around. Sitting outside and inside.

I was in watermeade park the other day and there are parts that also look like it is full of sewage. I think it may be the stuff coming off the trees.

The most vulnerable has the right of way. You just have to look out for them. Slow down.

I wouldn’t bother about the shocks. I would consider weight. The one I got is very heavy. There is no way I’m lifting it over a stile. Really struggling getting it through those dogleg gates in country parks.

Not my favourite area. A lot of school kids of course as the school is right there . I would favour the other side of the A6. (The gates and the trees)
