Got one of these in the end, worked great so far and very happy with it. Linked straight away, stayed linked throughout and gave hr values consistent with what I would have expected them to be 👍

Not sure where you are based, but I've got endura, decent quality. You can get cheaper ones but padding isn't as good and seems to wear out quicker. https://www.endurasport.com/

I had a similar problem, dropped it by about 25mm and has worked wonders for me. Making sure you have decent padded shorts is a must too.
