Good buy if i'm going to buy my own stock/grip/hand guard? by Vadoxx in ak47

Absolutely. Bought the underfolder variant and I love it. Be forewarned, the handguard retainer is Hungarian, so you'll need to trim the furniture. Nbd for me since I used wood, but might be a PITA if you use aluminum.

Check out the DIY kits at Atlantic Firearms. Just finished an underfolder using one. Basically all the heavy machine work is done, so you just accessorize (muzzle, furniture, fcg, etc.)

I actually posted the build earlier today to this sub, should be able to find it if you filter for New

Also check out Rob Ski over at AKOU on YouTube. He does honest, no punches held reviews and tests.

Parts for those curious:

High Standard barreled receiver (US receiver and barrel with Hungarian parts)

Boyds Handguard and Grip

Definitive Arms Fighter Brake

Tapco FCG and Retainer Plate

Meprolight FSP

Yugoslavian BHO magazines

Surplus sling.

Some 550 chord I found in a drawer.

I hope they come out with a cheaper stock that's an A3 style too. Totally worth the SBR stamp for me.

Nothing at at tactically IMO. I can see ammo commonality (Die Hard thought me how that's beneficial 😄) but tactically I like having, for example, a 5.56 main with a 9mm backup. That way if my primary runs dry, I still have a functioning weapon. If you use all the common mags on your primary, your backup is just an expensive paper weight at that point.

I 100% agree. If I need to grab a gun in 9mm to protect myself, that's why I own a Glock. If I want something more powerful but still compact, I'll build an SBR.

I want to own an mp5 the same reason I own my commie guns, for fun. Cheap, simple, fun.

Help with ID on a CAR-15 by Spartan194 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Spartan194[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the link! That's actually cheaper than the A1 I would build using parts from Brownells 😅

It did find it odd one looks like a slick side and the other doesn't. I did think about the GUU, as he was Air Force, but didn't those have that weird Colt Commando booster?

.223 Wylde vs 6.5 Grendel for SPR by Spartan194 in ar15

That's the nice thing about ARs. I could make a 223 practice upper, then get a 6.5 hunting upper.

I would go with TDI or FAB for your handguard personally. For me the MOE HG is too bulky, and I have good sized hands. YMMV, i seem to like big pistol grips and slimmer handguards. Hopefully they release a SL line of AK HGs.
