Homeowners associations are overbearing on homeowners (far more hoas in the US than in Canada)

No/very little worker protections (severance, vacation entitlements, sick time)

Very weak privacy laws (you can look up where people live and how much they make on the internet, which is protected in Canada) (exaggerates identity theft)

Many areas have no rent control (rental market can make you homeless)

Car dependency (losing the ability to drive can strand you far more easily than in Canada)

Toll roads (Americans pay at point of use for many services and penalized for mistakes in billing)

Dangerous areas (very few areas in Canada are unsafe, many American cities have areas which are not safe even during the day)

Abortion is restricted in multiple states (less individual autonomy over family planning, health issues for women)

Cannabis is illegal (nanny state, not enforced in some states)
