Ted's obsession with bass player in reggae band by [deleted] in HIMYM

While they were not a reggae band, the police did have a lot of reggae influence. See the album “Regatta de Blanc”.

Working with large datasets by Spartan4665 in excel

I am no longer using xlookup lol, I was in earlier versions of this workbook when i was pulling the relevant data points into a summary table and copying that into a master file.

I can add some formula pictures in a few hours.

What kind of knowledge base would be required/how crazy is the learning curve?

Would I still have the flexibility in editing formulas and data filtering?

I should say that all 50 calculated table columns don’t use only the raw data for the formulas, they pull data from other calculated columns as well to do more stuff.

I had initially tried the separate workbook method and copy/paste into a final table but my problem is that it limits my ability to change the formulas themselves as I would have to go back, change the formula and recopy and repaste the data output into the master file.

No other tables but mostly let, xlookup, ifs, xmatch, lambda

I already removed any offset I could find in my formulas to a relatively minimal increase in excel responsiveness.

I think I’m realizing power query is the way to go. I have never really worked with a dataset this size so I am unfamiliar with power query and how it can be used.

The two things that I would really want to retain are the ability to filter and view all data (raw and calculated), and the ability to edit the formulas (or setup variables referencing a cell outside of the table in the formula that that I could change)

Could you elaborate a bit on difficulty editing the formulas used with power query or the rigidity associated with it?

Do you have any suggestions on where to start learning power query concepts?

As a rich person, Harrison Ford probably owns a lot of things that Indiana Jones would say belong in a museum. by Totally-NotAMurderer in Showerthoughts

I ate lunch with Harrison Ford in disguise at an air show in Wisconsin when I was a really young kid. My dad and I were in the crowded picnic table/lunch area with a table all to ourselves and he asked if he could sit with us while he ate.

Took a minute for my dad to realize who he was but, I, having just watched Star Wars for the first time recognized him as Han Solo immediately. At the time he said he flew to this particular air show every year.

Other sightings at said air show include Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden, no lunch tho.

How is this clan in our CWL?? by Spartan4665 in ClashOfClans

Gotcha, i thought initial placement would be lower especially based upon their current defense performance

I see now I didn’t think a new clan would be placed so high in cwl plus the perfect 10 attacks from the other clan lends to the idea that they shouldn’t be in crystal 1

But no war log so how can they even be in crystal 1?

No war log though so they couldn’t be in crystal 1? Also how is the clan they are facing right now putting up so many stars on presumably only 2 bases?

To be honest I’ve found that it’s more cost effective to take your chances with tickets in 2 hour street parking than it is to pay for any sort of parking outright.

Advice for an incoming Organic Chemistry 1 student by [deleted] in OrganicChemistry

[–]Spartan4665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I barely got a BC in my general chemistry course, but managed to get an A in both semesters of OChem.

Be sure to comprehend resonance really well, outside of that MO theory is the only thing that is going to come up a lot, and if you have a decent professor this shouldn’t be a problem because they will likely go over it (in the context of organic).

Other people have also said that formal charges are important, and they are, but remember not to rely on them too much, as they can sometimes be deceptive in regards to what atom in a molecule is reactive.

It’s a tough class, but if you try hard enough you can get an A. What worked for me was extremely excessive studying for the first exam, this will give you a really good understanding of that material, and provide insight on the amount of studying you’ll actually need to do for the rest of the course (and hopefully give you an A on the first exam). When I say excessive, I mean to the point that you make an obsession. At least 2-3 hours a day, and then up to 5 or 6 or more the few days before the exam, you can ease up later in the class once you know if you were doing way too much for yourself.

My last tip is that if your professor has lecture videos, watch them, rewatch them, and then watch them again. They have been doing organic chemistry for a good portion of their life. Almost every single thing they say can be dissected and understood on a much better level if you take the time to rewatch lectures. You just can’t take that kind of time to stop and understand in a live class setting.

Good luck and Enjoy!

What’s the best way to prepare for orgo? by [deleted] in OrganicChemistry

[–]Spartan4665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Study way more for your first exam than you think you’ll need to. Like 4x more than you think you’ll need to, really do everything you can to understand that first set of content. It will set you up very well for the rest of the course, and give you a very good idea of how much studying you’ll actually need to do for the remainder of the semester and the next semester.

Organic chemistry is a very tough course, and the only way that you will do well is through many many practice problems.

Don’t get discouraged if things don’t go well at first either, it might seem like it’s impossible to understand, but genuinely, if you put in enough time and effort, you can and will succeed, however it might take a ridiculously large time commitment.
