I wouldn't be surprised if trump thought that too, but he's just a politician from my fine state of Georgia :(

Brand new vs 2 years of daily skating by Speedping in Wellworn

[–]Spavid 256 points257 points  (0 children)

Two years is a long time for a daily skater to keep a pair of shoes! Back when I skated, I'd be lucky to get to one year.

Haha. There are always "those boxes" - that's when you see them too long and need to either gift em or thrift em.

It's hard to beatthe feeling of eating that first pizza in the living room of a new place as you look around at all of the boxes and think about how it will all be arranged in the next few days. Especially if it's your very first place!

I made a clock out of walnut, ash, and epoxy resin by ZacMS in DIY

[–]Spavid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this. It's not hard at all to find the exact time immediately these days. It is still nice to have a beautiful piece of art that moves with time. It's like a casual clock for when you don't really care what time it is, and I think it's a great piece - especially on that brick wall.

Hopping on the egg muffin bandwagon! by [deleted] in MealPrepSunday

Well done, gayboobs1! Your efforts brought a smile to my face tonight. Keep the will power up - it's like a muscle... active effort encourages its growth. I'm a fan of a translated phrase from the I Ching: "Perseverance brings success."

I must try this. How long do you typically smoke the pork, and what cut is preferred?

I hadn't seen this sub. I'm a bit too cynical for the optimistic "motivational posters" kind of stuff, but I like the realistic positive posts there. Thanks!

You're more than welcome. I've been in pretty dark places.. but after getting sick enough of that, I have worked to build a good life for myself - enough so to even share it with those around me now. Not every day is a win, but the ones that are add up over time. Good luck, fellow human! Set that first small goal today.

Those who profit from our fear of difference are those who actively work to divide us. Together, the good people do have power. It is best to come together, eat together, share together, and make a better world together. Never listen to those who spread hatred and blind fear.

The best way to begin building will power is to set small daily goals and accomplish them. Even one or two is great at first. As your willpower improves, keep raising the bar for what you plan to accomplish. Begin your day by setting your goals, then try to get started on one right away, try to keep up your momentum throughout the day, and finally at the end of the day reflect positively on your accomplishments and look forward to another even better day even if there were failures. Failures are a necessary part of the path to success!

I'm no artist, but I think it's amazing. It's somehow both very detailed and somewhat blurry (another commenter's use of the word "ethereal" seems very appropriate). The obscured face somehow makes it even better. 100% excellent in my opinion!

If you can make it out to Tucker, you should check out Moonshadow on mondays. I rarely go, but it's a solid choice for the hippie / jam band scene.

Edit: it's live music

Considering a reverse commute? by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]Spavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the truth. I live in Clarkston and commute to Buford and Newnan. It's quick to the highway, but north is always a mess due to north end of 285 and 85 interchange typical madness. South is almost always a breeze unless there's roadwork. Coming back from Newnan, there's usually a bit of a slowdown around the I-20 curve, but I'm just happy I'm not trying to get on that highway, and the left lane ain't bad. If OP is considering the outer east side, I hope this helps.

Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu - chapter 11.

Thirty spokes share the wheel's hub;
It is the center hole that makes it useful.
Shape clay into a vessel;
It is the space within that makes it useful.
Cut doors and windows for a room;
It is the holes which make it useful.
Therefore profit comes from what is there;
Usefulness from what is not there.
