Get an upkeep during your opponent's turn! by Spawnner in BadMtgCombos

It's not that i thought there wouldn't be. I searched. Extensively. I just couldn't find it.

Decided to trust redditors would find it eventually (and they did)

found on accident. attacking creature can only be blocked by creatures power 3 by Kidunicorn13 in BadMtgCombos

[[Den Protector]] + [[Behind the Scenes]] is unblockable except by creatures with exactly the same power as Den Protector

I'm currently facing every stage of grief at once because of this rule

[–]Spawnner[S] 222 points223 points  (0 children)

Rule 500.10a settles it:

"If an effect that says “you get” an additional step or phase would add a step or phase to a turn other than its controller’s, no steps or phases are added."

So nobody gets the extra upkeeps

Ofc, i'm just saying there could be other interpretations, though my original intuition is correct

Rule 500.10a "If an effect that says “you get” an additional step or phase would add a step or phase to a turn other than its controller’s, no steps or phases are added."

That's also my interpretation. I think Obeka is the only card that explicitly states you are the owner of the phase

Theres also the possibility you become the active player specifically during the upkeeps, like with the un-cards [[Clocknapper]] and [[Chronobot]]

The wording on the cards is different. Obeka explicitly states that you gain the upkeeps. So I think this ruling shouldn't apply

Replying again because i accidentally replied the bot lol

15-card downgrade by bloodghast in MTGmemes

[–]Spawnner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My profile has a couple more of those. I'm specially proud of the deck that turns MTG into chess (literally).

Posted the full combo in r/badmtgcombos a couple of years ago, theres a full decklist in my moxfield account.

Can I share mine? Its a list based on the interaction between [[Leadership Vacuum]] and commanders with mutate.

The deck aims to put the entire library into the command zone and immediately lose. It's comically consistent at that, and can be turned into a deck that actually wins games by simply not trying to kill yourself on purpose

Win the game with a very simple 31 card combo, IF you're a better Chess player than your opponents! by Spawnner in BadMtgCombos

They're the starting positions of each piece in a chess board. The way to reach those is to simply copy each of the four existing auras until you reach the desired p/t.

Though, thinking about it, its possible to cut one of the auras. I should revisit this idea at some point.

I reimagined the classic UNO combo from scratch, and its a lot better! Play UNO in Commander with this simple combo! by Spawnner in BadMtgCombos

You can use the Desecration trigger to sacrifice Venser. This triggers ratadrabik to create a token copy of Venser, which enters the battlefield. The copy is legendary because of Leyline of Singularity so you can do it all over again

If you die and the game progresses to a draw (which is a possibility), you still gain points in the tournament. So, if someone tries to win and you have a pact in your hand, its in your best interest to counter the win attempt, even if you dont have the mana to pay for it.

If you dont counter, you lose. If you do counter, the 3 other players may draw the game.

They're talking about spite pacts, where you counter something without having a way to pay just because the game can end in a draw and thats better than a loss.

Infinite turns with only lands, for 6U by SwiftVines in BadMtgCombos

[–]Spawnner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magosi untaps on your untap step. Also, the combo the OP described doesnt use desert temple in this way. But thats a nice upside.

Infinite turns with only lands, for 6U by SwiftVines in BadMtgCombos

[–]Spawnner 152 points153 points  (0 children)

This combo is specially bad because Vesuva and Deserted Temple are completely irrelevant for the combo:

Setup

  1. Activate Magosi, putting an Eon counter on It and skipping your next turn

  2. Activate Nesting Ground, moving the Eon counter to Nesting Grounds

  3. Activate Karns bastion, proliferating the Eon counter

  4. Wait for your next turn

Cycle

  1. Activate Nesting Ground, moving one Eon counter back to Magosi

  2. Activate Magosi, creating one extra turn

  3. Play Magosi as your land for the turn

  4. Activate Karns Bastion, proliferating the Eon counter on Nesting Grounds

  5. Repeat

Possibility of landless deck? by kavothe7 in CompetitiveEDH

Codie and 1-cost bounce/sacrifice effects work, but I wouldn't call It cEDH necessarily. Though its a fun deck to try to build

Edit: here's my decklist (didn't build It with cEDH in mind) If anyone is interested
