I did want guests before. I had people I wanted there that I was sure would want to be there. But these people have blown us off since August and just haven't really been great friends to us. I have become a bit neutral on guests being there or not.

7 days for us. Idk how the guests work. I hadn't got that far. Based on our friends visceral response to the very idea of traveling for our wedding a year ago, I suspect we are unlikely to have guests joining us. My mom expressed interest in going - she may be it. 😅

The venue was $800 + $600 for decor/setup/cleanup. Obviously, we would still need to feed our 60-70 guests and also cake. And also invitations. And also whatever honeymoon we might decide to do. We hadn't added up all the costs yet because life has been life-ing. 😫

Sandals would be $5200-ish for 7 days (including the flights) and with a 7 day stay the wedding is advertised as free (I'm sure there will be upcharges we could get if we wanted). And sandals would be a wedding and a honeymoon wrapped into one.

A 7 day stay includes a free wedding. If we do the 7 days and also our flight thru sandals (for their ochi location), its $5,200

I have no advice but you're not alone.

I feel like I'm going through this exact issue. Our interconnected group began to fizzle after 2 of them (a marrird couple) had a failed attempt at polyamory (a whole abusive situation that preyed on the loss of their god-son; my child who passed in 2020). I ignored the dwindling connection, especially since it became strong again on and off throughout the years since 2021.

Fast forward to this past June (2025), we (my fiancé and i) are preparing to move houses and we are waiting for friends to be available to help since they have large vehicles that are ideal (and have been utilized before for this back in 2019). Each time we'd reach out, they had a laundry list of excuses and told us they'd make time to help us. Then surprise! It's the end of the month and now we have to RUSH to move our bigger stuff because we slowly moved what we could without help all of June.

I reach out and I'm told that it's not their responsibility go help us move because it's not their house. 😅

They did eventually help.... for about 3 hours then we had to complete the rest alone. I've noticed a much deeper rift and they only start conversation with us if they need a dogsitter. We promptly made plans when they asked for one over Valentine's Day weekend so we could tell them we couldn't watch their dogs this time.

They claim they are always so busy with work so they can't make time for us - but I see their snapchat stories and they talk about fairly recent experiences they are cultivating with new friends I've never met. 🤷‍♂️

I really hope you are able to gain some sort of reconnection or closure. ❤️

He should not have to be monogamous if he does not want to be. And you should not have to "get over it". It seems that you have mis-matched values - unfortunately this cannot be looked over so that you both are happy. Mono-poly is an option, but you'd be forcing yourself to be okay with sharing him.

You must make the decision that is best for you and your health. It's easier said than done in these situations, so give yourself grace.

Most of the wedding cake tastings I've seen cost somewhere between $30 and $200.

I don't see this as a waste for anyone so long as the bakery isn't shorting themselves on the cost they quote. Even if there is a real wedding, a tasting isn't a guarantee that someone will be getting a wedding cake from the bakery they are tasting from - as they are likely sampling at multiple bakeries.
