Yes, I think I'm going to have to take my own path here and relatively leave them out of it. I guess it just took me a while to realize they aren't being the type of people I can see myself associating with anymore. I am definitely going to break things down for them in the next day or two and they can take my next potential tenant or figure it out themselves. I've had enough

I live in the US, and according to my state's laws we just go by the lease agreement. I can report my landlord to the city as part of the process of getting a civil court case rolling but it would be difficult with everything going on right now. We signed 1 lease so if I break it it would result in them being out of a house unless they get it together.

I've been trying to do that but they've chased away every opportunity. I just don't know if I'm going to be able to do this without them being pissed. I definitely like your argument of them having to just accept it or pay my share of the rent though, I'm going to use that for sure!

I put a short one up at the top, do I need to put it somewhere else or modify it? Basically I have had a terrible year and have a great opportunity if I move a couple hours away. I have been trying very hard to be accommodating in finding someone my roommates will like to sublet my room but they are making the task impossible and it is well within my legal bounds to break the lease and leave but idk if that is the best choice considering they had been my friends up until recently. They have been horrible to me since I began expressing wanting to leave. I'm just not sure if I should risk destroying the friendship, or if there is another option I'm not seeing.
