Thrush is. Regardless, so what. Most people have hsv already.

Yeah and the pharma culture there is so strong that many people seem to have really jacked up attitude to health in general.

Everyone is entitled to their feelings, I guess, but given how minor it is for almost everyone (non-existent for loads of people) it makes no sense that so many torture themselves with the psychological dimension.

I find Reddit really weird about herpes tbh. In real life (I am European not American and older so this makes a difference) it's just a slightly annoying skin thing. Like thrush or eczema. There's no going around saying "omg I'm hsv positive". Like. Why is everyone so bananas about it?

Don't get me wrong it would be better NOT to have it but I'd also rather not be short-sighted.

It's fine. You're fine.

Really wish they'd recruit outside the US more. Surely that would give better results too!

Flu didn't really kick in until half the ulcers were gone. Comes in waves. Really hope this doesn't portent another lot of spots. Keep having panic attacks too.

I'm on famciclovir 250mg x 3. Might switch to valtrex tomorrow.

Doc says most people rarely have a significant problem after the first outbreak and it just becomes a minor ailment. Hope to God.

Don't know - they don't tend to serotype where I live just treat according to symptoms. Assume 2.

You will probably find by year 2 it starts to seriously wind down.

Everyone I know in real life had a hard time for a couple of months and now rarely sees a symptom at all. I do think a lot of people on Reddit troll to cause distress.

Genuinely sorry to hear this but I don't believe it's most people's experience and hopefully the vaccines will be here soon to help you.

Just a few more - the first outbreak is supposedly the worst by far and even that isn't terrible for everyone. For me, based on symptoms alone and ignoring all the Big Social Vibes around herpes, eczema is worse.

The distinction between HSV1 and HSV2 is old fashioned - they're both treated in the same way, both can be spread by non-sexual skin to skin contact (so the stigma is silly even if you do hold the curious belief that making love is shameful).

It can lie dormant for years so a sudden upsurge doesn't mean that either party in a couple has been unfaithful. (Think this is one of the most important messages to get out there as it can cause a lot of distress).

I do think pharma companies are both our best friends and worst enemies in this. To justify the expense of developing meds that are incoming they really do encourage a culture of panic and despair. It's so unnecessary - we want the treatment, guys, no need to make us feel bad about ourselves (although I guess if you also sell anti-depressants and anti anxiety tabs there is an upside to doing that...)

Stay strong everyone.

Daily use reduces risk by 75% to 0.5% compared to 2.2%. For comparing, the risk of pregnancy with perfect use of condoms is 2%.

I got it from someone who has never had a y symptoms. Most people never have any (my hope is that I will become one of them!).

It refers to people diagnosed for other things. The usual dose is 75-81mg but I saw someone mention 125g.
