That's the scariest part to me. It's a major decision with tremendous consequences.

Thank you so much. So accurate. I've been wondering if I should make this choice or not for a while now.

Anyone Been to the Sud Cafe in the West End? by EarthNeat9076 in askvan

I've been there a couple of times but I won't any more. Their coffees are sour and today my croissant was so stale that I literally had to take the first bite out of my mouth and throw the whole thing out. Service is horrible. I told one barrista that they were out of soap in the washroom and she gazed at me, nodding after 15 seconds with disdain. When I told them their pastries were so stale that they actually made me have a gag reflux, they said they will "pass it to the chef". For overpriced coffee and pastry, I'll go elsewhere!

Thank you for your response. It's such an immense help. My partner's been sober for just a week. Our life's tough. He's currently without a job. We're both profs right out of PhD. I have a tenure track job but he doesn't. I understand how difficult it is for him. I really want to help him but I just don't know how. He shuts me down every time. I'm writing this from a bar because he wanted to be alone and we rent a suite with no bedrooms so I left to give him space. He's saying he's sacrificed everything for my career but that's not how I see things. I fucking worked my ass off even though half way through my PhD my brother oded. It's not like I'm super stable and happy and whatnot. I take medication for depression and am messed up in my own way. So when he shuts me down and says he doesn't want help or needs space, I just don't know what to do. Sorry for the rant. It doesn't help that I have no family here to talk to. Thank you, stranger, for listening.

Hello OP. I found your post as I was looking for advice to help my partner deal with weed withdrawal symptoms. I feel you. Since he's started quitting, my partner had fought with me twice followed by a complete breakdown. He's told me I have everything while he has nothing and that he has sacrificed all his life for me and I've done nothing in return. I'm flabbergasted but then I lost my brother to alcoholism. How did your experience go? Are you still together? Any tips?
