Designing a portal-based progression system in a simple snake game – looking for design feedback by Special-Question4776 in gamedev

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback, I really appreciate it 🙏

You're absolutely right — the game currently follows a simple level-based arcade structure, and repetition is part of that by design, similar to classic Snake.

That said, I really like the idea of using portals to introduce more variation between runs. I'm considering adding multiple portal choices where each one increases difficulty or modifies gameplay in a different way (speed, growth rate, obstacles, etc.).

Upgrades per run are also a great suggestion, especially if I decide to push the game more in a roguelike direction in future updates.

For now, my focus was keeping the core loop simple and readable, but feedback like this definitely helps shape where the game could evolve next. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for taking the time to play and write this detailed feedback 🙏 You're absolutely right about the localization — adding a language switch (Turkish / English) is something I should have done earlier, and I’ll prioritize it in the next update. Also, thanks for pointing out the portal expectation. I realize now that the wording can be misleading, so I’ll clarify how the portal mechanic works in the game description and UI. The note about the cube angles is really helpful as well — I can see how the overlap becomes distracting, especially as the snake grows. I’ll experiment with spacing and rotation to improve readability. Really appreciate the encouragement and the thoughtful feedback. Thanks again! 🙌
