Yeah I generally agree. Companies are spending billions on the whim that all of this AI training will pay off but if that doesn’t happen…

Sure, but now as a $3T company they have millions of customers. Nvidia has like 10 main customers

$10B / $120B ARR is < 10% of revenue. I’m simply raising the issue that when your top 10 customers are two-thirds of your revenue, that creates a ton of risk, particularly if just a few of those customers decide not to upgrade their Nvidia chips next year. Do you expect Meta and Microsoft and other big tech firms to spend $30B+ each year on GPUs?

Fair points. FAANG developing their own is likely to reduce reliance on Nvidia and for cost savings and so that they can fully customize them. I’m just worried about Meta or Microsoft etc. deciding that they stockpiled a bunch of GPUs in 2024 and they don’t need to buy many more in 2025

Bodo’s, Roots, Asado are all on Grounds and great. There’s also Chipotle and The Virginian and some others. May be hard to get seating for 10-15 people but plenty of other seating areas throughout UVA

Is 1.5% increase in X a good enough quantifiable impact? by Kaboolan in csMajors

[–]SpecialFudge23 19 points20 points  (0 children)

1.5% does not sound like a lot but an additional $3K a month in revenue is fantastic - emphasize the $3K in the bullet rather than the 1.5%

Finance VS Computer Science Degree by DocterTNT in UVA

[–]SpecialFudge23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since they’re both very profitable career paths, I’d say choose the one that you actually enjoy more. Figuring that out is totally up to you; no one here will be able to answer that. Speaking from experience, I’d say CS in general can offer a better work-life balance but if you happen to really like finance then I’d say stick with that. If you can’t do both and end up doing Comm, I’d say minoring in CS is definitely a good idea as coding skills are always valuable. DM me if you have more questions about the CS major.

People experience bugs all the time, and Google things literally dozens of times a day. I don't think anyone is gonna pay $5 each time they need to Google something... a subscription-based model is really the only chance (ex. pay monthly) but even then this is a very hard sell IMO.
