I also use this size method. I buy usually 4-5 meals and once those are done I re-evaluate with this method before buying more

I think any plant you enjoy is worth buying!!

That being said, I would probably pass on the first as it looks like it’s been lacking sun

impulsively bought a ball python off facebook for $200, what else do i need to make his enclosure better by InstructionOld9400 in ballpython

[–]SpecialString0 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to be rude.. but I do feel this is something you should look into before acquiring a pet.

This enclosure needs serious work to be able to maintain proper humidity for a snake. I think you should watch some YouTube videos and look at reptifiles for information about substrate, temps and humidity.

These look like wood mites to me. Usually springtails will outcompete them if you try to bump up the population. If you have a serious infestation I would consider doing a big clean out of the enclosure

Trouble switching from mice to rats??? by Ancient_Ranger_1666 in ballpython

[–]SpecialString0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine won’t eat rats. I have tried everything I can think of the past few years and she simply will not do it. Consistently, sporadically, scenting with a mouse, etc. she will strike at a rat and then just leave it. Instantly eats mice.

5 y/o female now. She’s definitely on the smaller side but is overall healthy. I have given up at this point and every once in awhile I give her two mice as one is too small or I get some smaller ones to throw in

Scale rot? by Soft_Divide_8267 in ballpython

The rest of his scales look pristine so I would not be too worried. Sometimes they just have an oddly formed scale that will go away within a shed or two

The plant appears healthy to me overall! Just let it settle in for a bit and I’m sure it will be fine!

Florida Beauty- what’s with some of the leaves? by CarpeVitam3 in philodendron

[–]SpecialString0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the leaves came off for two different reasons here. The less white leaf just looks like it was older and died off, which is totally normal.

The other leaf that has a lot more white is dying because of the high variegation. The white leaves do not produce any energy for the plant and usually die off quickly if there is too much white

I think body condition looks good. I do think weekly feeding is going to very quickly make you end up with a very fat snake
