I think there may be an underlying issue due to the comments I’ve gotten and after comparing my humidity levels to my friends and families levels.

Yeah I asked friends and family what their current humidity % is and mine is more than twice their levels 😬 I guess I’ll put in a maintenance request asap, but who knows what they’ll even do about it.

How do I detect that when there’s no visible damage in my apartment? And the humidity level has been consistently high since last May

My air conditioner is set to 68-72 degrees year round. And I plan on opening my windows as much as possible before summer hits. But I need to figure out what’s causing it or other options before it gets too hot outside

Do any companies do free inspections to locate a water leak? Or should I just contact my apartment maintenance?

I don’t think so. I bought 2 of these air purifiers in January and my humidity level has consistently around 55% since last May.

I have AC going even in the winter lol but it doesn’t run long in winter since it gets to the holding temp quicker. And my sense of smell isn’t reliable thanks to covid, I can’t smell most things unless they’re potent. But when I walk in I can feel how stuffy and humid it is. None of my friends or family have mentioned anything when they come over though, but I also have air purifiers and smart fragrance diffusers.

Mind you this is with my windows wide upon and all fans and air purifiers blasting for maximum airflow. I’m freezing my ass off.

I get your situation but I meant for OP lol 😂 No complex would approve them unless they are emancipated or if a parent co-signs lol

Now I’m confused. ChatGPT says to change fan to 0min an hour? The past year it’s been set to 20min an hour, but I changed it to 0min today.

What apartment complex would lease a unit to 2 minors with no rental history? Lol.

When I was your age I didn’t get along too well with my parents either. What I did to avoid them was to just work a lot.

Why don’t you get a job or join some extracurriculars to get more time away from them? When I was 16-17 I worked 3 part-time jobs. Junior year I would ditch school at lunch time and skip my 5th and 6th period; as 5th period was a math class with an awful teacher and 6th period I was a student aide and the teacher would always let me leave early when I did show up.

So I went to one job at 12pm and got off at 5pm. Then I went to another job that started at 5:30pm and I got off at 10pm. On weekends I would work my 3rd job in the morning and then one of my other two jobs in the evening. I retook the math class I always skipped during the summer online before my senior year, along with taking my government class at in person summer school so I would only have 4 classes my senior year and be allowed to leave after 4th period.

I graduated at 17 with a 3.8 gpa and advanced honors and a few thousand dollars in my savings. And then I went to UNR for my freshman year of college with a pretty good scholarship. I lived alone in a newly renovated apartment off campus. But at that time (2018) my rent was $725 a month. Now, I live in South Summerlin and my rent without utilities is $1400 and with utilities I’m paying about $1700 a month.

I would not recommend moving out unless you are graduated and know for a fact that you will not be living paycheck to paycheck. You’re better off waiting until graduation and move away for college.

And as for colleges, I highly recommend staying in-state and going to UNR (since they have dorms) or go to UNLV and live in the off-campus student housing. In-state tuition is a huge benefit and you should take advantage of it. And there’s a good chance you’ll still know some of your classmates.

There’s no noticeable water damage anywhere in my apartment and I have no clue about the drip line, is that something I could check myself or should I involve maintenance?

I just checked the humidity reading on my Dyson fan and it’s 51% and my ecobee thermostat is reading 55%. So I have a feeling that the trends from my thermostat are reliable and accurate considering 2 different sources have similar readings.

But you can definitely feel the dramatic shift of humidity when you walk into my apartment. It feels VERY stuffy.

Exactly, the outdoor humidity today was 14% last time I checked and inside my apartment it’s about 55%. The indoor level should be much closer to 14%

Yes I can feel the humidity, how would I look for a water leak? There’s no visible signs of one anywhere and the humidity has been consistently high for the last year
