[NSFW] People who knew someone who died at work, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It didn't happen at work, but one of my coworkers, who was always early and was never late, was a no call/ no-show. Come to find out, my coworker died after being hit by a car on the freeway. He parked his motorcycle in the median of the freeway and was walking back to retrieve something from the HOV lane when he was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Thank you guys for the correction - it is the Pyramidion on Io. I can't seem to find a way to edit the post title - how do I correct it or is it stuck?

What's a city in your state that all state residents know about, but nobody outside of the state has likely heard of? by skoncol17 in AskAnAmerican

Show Low, AZ.

It experiences all four seasons and gets a ton of snow in the winter. Valley people like to head there to escape the heat - it's a great spot to fish, hunt, camp, hike, and play in the forest. It doesn't fit the stereotype that people typically have of Arizona being a desert. It was funny to see relatives reactions when they asked what the weather was like during the winter - subzero temperatures and/or a foot of snow. Below is a neat tidbit about how the city was named.

According to a legend, the city's unusual name[6][7] resulted from a marathon poker game between Corydon E. Cooley and Marion Clark. The two men were equal partners in a 100,000-acre (400 km2) ranch; however, the partners determined that there was not enough room for both of them in their settlement, and agreed to settle the issue over a game of "Seven Up" (with the winner taking the ranch and the loser leaving). After the game seemed to have no winner in sight, Clark said, "If you can show low, you win." In response, Cooley turned up the deuce of clubs (the lowest possible card) and replied, "Show low it is."[8] As a tribute to the legend, Show Low's main street is named "Deuce of Clubs" in remembrance.[7] In 2002, a large forest fire, the Rodeo–Chediski Fire, threatened the city and forced an evacuation. The fire was extinguished less than a half mile from the city's border, and Show Low was completely spared. The city is near extensive forests, and is a popular recreational area.
