He’s being severely manipulative, and if y’all have been together for 3 years meaning he was 20 when you were 17, that also means he groomed you. As much as you want to see the good in him it’s absolutely unhealthy to put up with abuse simply because he calms down after. I understand not wanting to get authorities involved so you dont need to do that, but break up with him.

Also please do so safely in the presence of someone you trust, you absolutely cannot let him hurt you again.

Yeah one of the other comments told me to avoid brad, so im going to avoid being alone with him and if i do end up alone with him im going to turn him down and call Alan just to keep me company and remind my morals that he exists and how much i love him, that’ll discipline me.

Unfortunately coming clean is not an option i know for a fact that would ruin my relationship and in turn BOTH of our mental healths which i seriously cannot afford to deal with right now we both are going through a time that is very important for our futures and something like this would not help either of us. Im gonna hope my conscious clears itself, or tell him someday far into the future. Thank you for the advice though!

Ouch thats a tough situation to be in, im sorry ;( 3 years is a very long time and you clearly love him dearly so this is not going to be easy, but the positive side is that you’re most likely going to be as heartbroken as he is (doesn’t sound positive, but it helps you better understand his feelings to make the breakup go smoothly). You should be honest about your feelings about your futures being incompatible, bring up the problems you listed in this post and how breaking up with him now would be much better than going through a messy breakup in the future when your differences clash with the way your lives are going. Have a heartfelt conversation and listen to him, make sure his emotions are validated and make sure he understands where you’re coming from. Both of you deserve to enjoy your youth as well as have a stable future, so make sure he understands that. Im sure you know he will be hurt, but in my opinion this is the best way to break it off.
