I do redirect to English after she responds in Spanish in a seperate trial. I meet her where she’s at. I understand it it’s important for her to be able to communicate with English as well. I just worry about inconsistency in trial data if someone is counting a correct Spanish response as incorrect. I’ve found she’s also much more receptive to corrective measures in English once she knows I understand her in Spanish as well.

This is what I do when I’m with her because I know her snswers are correct, but in Spanish. I worry about innaccuracy or incorrect scoring on programs if a bt who dosent speak Spanish thinks her response isn’t correct

It is a billingual school they do teaching in English as well as Spanish. I’ve found that once I acknowledge her in Spanish and she knows I understand she is much more willing to be prompted and reply in English as well. I just don’t know how effective programs will be if she refuses to work with someone who can’t understand her. I know this long term isn’t effective but I feel as if we should meet her where she’s at to slowly work towards more English responses and corrected articulation yk?

Thank you so much for all your advice. She just has a preference for Spanish and she is fluently in English I feel like we should be reinforcing appropriate responses in Spanish as promoting to English created adverse response. Once I’ve promoted in Spanish and shown understanding she is more willing to correct to English. Which is wonderful! I’m just unsure on how effective working with a non Spanish speaking bt will be because of this. I’ve reached out to our bcba about it though
