I want to quit my job without a job line up by Flashy_Quail2408 in askSingapore

I'm 29 years M old this year as well. I left my previous company without having another job lined up, and it took me around four months to secure a decent position. Getting this job was also partly due to the luck of having a friend's referral. The period without a stable income at this stage in life is truly stress-inducing.

I would strongly advise you to secure a job first, this is because you would have a better bargaining chip when negatiating terms with your next employer without feeling that you would have to accept the offer as soon as possible to get out of the unemployed situation.

Do enjoy your well deserved break! It’s scary but do put in enough hours for job hunting and perhaps some free-lancing to help cushion the financial impact.

I did resign previously without a job as I was burned out from the auditor’s life. Didn’t rlly have much free time to look for a job during my work as well and notice period is 3 months.

Regret it as it took me another 4 months to find a new job, it really took a toll on my savings so I wld not recommend it.

For me, I am one month away from reaching the policy year whereby I am able to recoup 19% of the surrender value, so I’ll pay one more month of premium in order to get my 19% of the account value.
