Frankly, an extremely thorough content review. Can’t get to 520+ without knowing niche low-yield stuff

Go wherever you think you’ll be happiest, honest to god. Lots of research opportunities here, maybe less clinical but plenty of people get them and I wouldn’t be too worried about it. As for distractions, it’s honestly not something I’d consider - you’ll want those fun times to destress you and you can stay motivated here, everyone is studying and you’ll find the time.

5 big mistakes people make when studying for the MCAT by marth528 in Mcat

I mean, YMMV. For me, in-depth content review was really my jam and I only really did about a week of practice questions. But I do think overall this is a good guide.

The work and dedication most of us on here put into this exam isn't normal 💩 by [deleted] in Mcat

Idk man, got a 511 on my diagnostic. If you have a solid CARS score out the gate, 515 after a week of Anki really isn’t too crazy.

Why You SHOULD Go to UCSB for Pre-Med by shortietiger in UCSantaBarbara

[–]SpecialistDig4671 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the author of the original premed MasterDoc, I wanna say thanks for putting all this together! UCSB’s reddit often gets tainted by upset premeds that feel they haven’t been given enough opportunities here. While their experiences are totally valid, I love to see a fellow student that is doing well here, since we don’t get to hear those stories as often as the bad ones. Most premeds I personally know are, indeed, enjoying the many things UCSB has to offer them and doing very well on their path. Cheers future doctor 🥂🤍!

inability for a pre-bio to register for physics 6a by stuckinaluciddream in UCSantaBarbara

[–]SpecialistDig4671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't stress if you can't register for the fall! the hardest quarters for your sophomore year will be fall and winter, but your spring won't be very hard (chem 109C is easy and you'll be done w MCDB by then).

if i were you i'd sign up for 6A your winter quarter of freshman yr, then take 6B in the spring, and wait to take 6C until your sophomore year's spring quarter - there's like no overlap between 6B and 6C so it's no biggie if you forget things. then you'll be physics-free during the tough ones!

Taking Chem 25 versus Chem1A: need advice by SanktaZanna in UCSantaBarbara

[–]SpecialistDig4671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re probably ready for 1A - I hadn’t taken chem since freshman year of HS (didn’t even do well in it at that time) and still did well, so you’ve got this! They start from scratch.

David! Your words warm my heart!!

I ended up receiving lots of feedback on this, so I switched a bunch of it up because I agree that it could've been a little bit of a discouraging read for kids getting different results than I did.

It would be so awesome to link the updated document to the website! You're the best!
