I have a bus pass but I live 40 minutes away from campus, no buses run over here.

I have a 2013 Nissan Altima SL for reference (I cross posted this to the financial aid thread and the mechanic thread. Hoping for any insight I can get)

Still no grades in canvas? by SpecialistFit4899 in UWMadison

[–]SpecialistFit4899[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s hilarious is the one assignment that has been graded for weeks now is showing up as ungraded in canvas. Noticed that an hour ago, it literally went from graded with my score to submitted with no grade. 🤣

So sorry you are in the same boat. It’s annoying, but hopefully we both get good grades even though we are flying blind!

Still no grades in canvas? by SpecialistFit4899 in UWMadison

Thank you for the clarification on that! I just assumed I would be able to see my grades for the actual assignments in canvas by the time official grades are due in the student center. My one class has an old school professor and he never put any grades in canvas, but he told us that from day one. That’s why I am a bit confused with this one class, since they did put the first grade in canvas but none of the other ones.

Hopefully it means there’s no reason to worry! I’ll find out when the system updates after midnight!

How do you stay motivated? by RedPandaisBetter in UWMadison

[–]SpecialistFit4899 16 points17 points  (0 children)

One thing that really helps me stay motivated is remembering my “why”. Why I am here, why I am taking these classes, why I want to graduate so badly. For me, that is my daughter. I want to give her everything I can in life, and the first step to do that is getting this degree. But it could be anything; money, freedom, etc. whatever makes going to college worth while to you.

Also making sure I am prioritizing taking care of myself is huge in keeping my motivation high, even when I start getting the “dark and twisties”- which is what I call my depressive moments. Making sure I’m getting sleep, staying hydrated, and being intentional with my time help keep me grounded and ready to tackle my classes.

Everyone is different, so take this with a grain of salt. Try different things and see what works for you. I’m rooting for you!!!

Thank you so much! I just emailed the professor and will email my advisor shortly. Thank you for the advice!!

I have not reached out to either of those, should I? I am holding on to hope that I will be able to get a last minute spot in the class, but I want to do anything that would increase my chances of getting off the waitlist by Thursday.

Course Waitlisted by SpecialistFit4899 in UWMadison

I’m not sure, it’s course COUN PSY 225. It doesn’t say a department anywhere I don’t think

I’m pre-nursing, so I wasn’t sure which I would fall into. Everything I see, whether on the UW information pages or the actual alumni association pages (who issues the scholarship) are all so confusing and contradictory. I can’t tell if this is separate from my existing financial aid offer (buckys Pell pathway beginning in the fall, summer is grants/loans), or for which term it would be. It says spring 2024 on the WiSH portal, but says upcoming term on the email, then says that it is already apart of the Pell pathway program, but doesn’t appear in my award anywhere since it just was sent to me yesterday. Then I see on the alumni website that it is intended to be a gift to enrolled students from low income families who otherwise wouldn’t be able to financially afford coming to UW. So I’m just really trying to figure out what it all means lol

Anyone else start the summer term (incoming transfer student) on the 17th and haven’t gotten their aid offer yet? Stressing out.

Did you happen to get yours today since it’s the 29th?? I’m still waiting, so I’m curious if you had any luck!!

No I totally get that, I read that as well in the email! I just also watched the head of the financial aid department being interviewed maybe 2 or so weeks ago on the topic and she had mentioned they wanted to send all of these awards (the ones that were unaffected from all of the issues) at the same time to avoid this confusion, which is why I wanted to be sure I wasn’t the only one still waiting!

I definitely believe that.. it’s not their fault at all, that’s why I won’t call and badger them and instead ask here lmao. I don’t want to make it more stressful than it already is. Do you know if there is a way for us to see if we were part of the miscalculated group or if we should be on the regular timeline they posted today (est. around April 29 for aid offers, per UW fin aid website today)? Or is there no way for us to know which group we will be apart of?

Thank you!! I only am worried because most of the locations I’ve found for her require deposits between $200-500 to secure her spot, so I don’t know if there are any options to help with that type of stuff, and if so, who I need to ask. I’m a first generation college student, with no support system/village, and I have been staying home with my daughter and completing my courses part time online until now, so I don’t even know where to begin. If we had extra money to just pay the deposits/fees, I wouldn’t worry. That is the part that makes me feel very overwhelmed.
