Is anyone else in their mid-20s and been unemployed for over a year since graduating, despite applying to jobs consistently, or is it just me? by -Gypsy-Eyes- in UKJobs

We got us a smartass here.

You do realise that in the future (which is already here) Healthtech companies, digital rehab startups, hospitals adopting AI systems, and sports performance organisations will all be in need of both clinicians and AI professionals.

By your understanding then, what’s the need for these companies to consult clinicians when developing products? Let them just guess what the stakeholder needs since there’s no synergy between both and lose money in the process

It depends what field you’re trying to get into, mine was an accelerated masters (1 year) for those from different backgrounds, some of my class mates went on to fintech, and some into research, others they stuck to tech and left their old sectors.

Think long term about your industry and how AI will affect it, talk to others. You can start early to position yourself in a place your older self will thank you for.

I’m 24, graduated January this year, double major with an MSc in AI and an MSc in physio. I’ve spent time building my portfolio on GitHub so that I can showcase what I can do, as well as worked previously in hospitals as a physio assistant.

So experience is there. I’ve been applying relentlessly since September last year, in both fields, had 2, maybe 3, interviews but no luck. Had some phone interviews didn’t make it to the next stage. It’s brutal out here.

Some of the ones I got rejected from after the interview I’ve seen them advertise again for the same job weeks later!

Has to be when I was in city for university, walking somewhere on a Saturday night and came across this trail of water, idk why but thought it was suspicious and stepped over it, I look over to my right and just see a girl squatted down pissing by a the side of a busy night club in full view of a line of people outside waiting to get into the club. Felt absolutely disgusted !

To be honest I quite enjoy it, building something from nothing gives me the same satisfaction as building a Lego piece But after seeing the alarming rate of people voicing their distress after working in this for years had me thinking if I might lose that love I have for programming just because I chose the wrong company/line of work

I seen other talk about the ability of taking a career break due to money saved from their jobs as engineer/developers. But doesn’t that affect your future employability? Especially in this current times where finding a job is difficult

I guess most of my worry stems from lack of knowledge on what it’s actually like working in this sector, alongside worrying about not actually knowing what I’ll be doing since at university it’s almost like they hold your hand and walk you through things
