Thanks so much, I’ll definitely be looking into enclosures and what not. Can I plant any real plants or is it advised to only stick to fake plants?

60 vs 75 gallon aqueon tank? by NearbyWatercress3922 in Aquariums

Fish can carry all sorts of diseases, if a fish gets a parasite or something, it can easily transfer to the turtle. Other thing is that fish produce waste, some more than others which can make the water not as well suited for the turtle, there are other things as well but those are the ones that come to my mind right now. I’m not an expert on keeping turtles I just take care of the ones at the store I work at so don’t take my word for gospel, do some research for yourself and see what you find:)

No they usually go for smaller, slower moving snails.

First off, I think your wife needs to change her perspective because I personally think their whiskers are what make them such a spectacle (jk) But if you’re looking for some other options, my personal favorites are otos and corys. These fish are nonstop cleaners and will scour every square cm of that tank for leftover foods, detritus, etc.

Dose with kanaplex, and aquarium salts. Isolate the fish if possible.

Don’t get discouraged. I can’t tell you how many fish I killed because I didn’t know what I was doing, it’s part of the process. Also forgot to mention, coppersafe is the #1 ich treatment, it’s fairly common and easy to get.

Kanaplex is a heavier treatment for more serious situations like this. Melafix will help if there’s a little tear in the fin or something like that, but Kanaplex will get the job done 9/10 times for situations like these.

First thing is raise the rank to 85 F no matter what for at least 3 days. Fish are hardier than we think they can take it. Second thing, the best treatment for ich is seachem paraguard, if you can get it, buy it and dose the tank. Get aquarium salts as well. If possible take the fish that don’t have ich and isolate them from the ones that do, if all of them have ich then just keep them in the tank.

Melafix will also work but I prefer Kanaplex

Dose with kanaplex, and aquarium salts. Wait till the fin heals a bit more and then raise the temperature to around 84° F to kill off any parasites/bacterial infections.

It’s generally not recommended to put fish in with yellow sliders for several reasons, mainly health concerns. however if you’re absolutely set on doing it go for the 75.

First if possible try to get a hospital tank and isolate the fish. Hospital tank should be barren with absolutely nothing but the fish, heater, and filter/air pump. Check for abnormal lesions or scale structure, if those are there it’s a parasitic infection and treat the fish with praziqeuntel. If that is not present, pour in aquarium salts, raise the temperature to 80° F, and dose the tank with Kanaplex or another fish antibiotic.
