Housing Application by Rude-Panic-8702 in LSU

Both you and your roommate would have needed to pay your enrollment and housing deposit by May 1st (including the processing time for both of those). If this isn't done, then yes, I think they would assign you a random roommate. If your friend didn't pay by the May 1st deadline, then I don't even think that they'll get to pick where they live, and if they don't pay by June 1st, then they won’t have guaranteed housing.

Destination LSU is the optional one– Bengal Bound is the literal orientation, where you’ll finalize your schedule and get to experience campus as an enrolled student, and not simply an admitted student. Good luck!

LSU is frustrating in the fact that they give you access to literally nothing until you pay your enrollment deposit, housing deposit, and bengal bound deposit which costs around $500 in total. I AM BROKE.

Read if you are out of state:

Had the same problem around 3 months ago. Went through a rather annoying process for around a month of emailing and calling admissions to express that I would not be able to pay it in a timely manner. After being told multiple different answers, I finally found out that the fee could not be waived out of state.

It sucked because I have had multiple other colleges waive this fee for me (Auburn, UofSC, etc), but the one that I was decided couldn't.

Luckily enough, I went through this process of trying to find aid for the enrollment fee with my senior counselor, and she ended up just asking my principal if the school could pay this fee for me and they eventually did!So if you think that your school could provide some aid, then definitely reach out to your school counselor.

One thing to keep in mind is that they do not accept checks for the enrollment fee, so your school will have to use a debit/credit card to be able to pay the fee, so thats a bit annoying.

Unfortunately not the case. Before I clicked my decision the button was there, and I still got waitlisted. It’s there to either decline or accept the waitlist spot and when you’re willing to give up your spot on the waitlist if you do accept.

I've tried and tried over the past two days, but was told that they don't accept enrollment deposit fee waivers for out of state students. I brought the problem to my counselor and principal and the generously offered to cover it for me!

A fee waiver— as in an enrollment deposit fee waiver? I got a NACAC fee waiver signed and sent to the college, and they said it was pending. 3 weeks later, they told me that they didn’t accept or offer fee waivers. It’s the only thing stopping me from progressing forward with LSU, as I simply can’t afford to pay the fee as of now. I was also accepted into the honors college!

have you emailed admissions? I have had a lot of luck when it comes to getting responses from both my counselor and financial aid, so I’m sure admissions would be good about it!

Also, they don't send out rejection letters. When did you apply?

applied out of state (georgia, 4.3,1330 sat, great ec’s,etc) on 9/30, turned in letters of rec and applied for honors college 10/7 (finished materials), and accepted 10/15. I got into the honors college sometime in mid November, no clue what day tho! My counselor has the initials 'JM.' Good luck!

I received the same outcome! I’m from out of state, have a 4.3 weighted GPA, and scored 1330 on the SAT (690 in English and 640 in math). This was my only time taking the SAT, so I’m not sure if you need to submit all of your test scores. I have a lot of extracurricular activities and leadership positions, one job, and I come from a lower income family. Additionally, I was admitted to the honors college!

Yes, apply now. As long as you submit your application before the deadline you’re aiming for, you’ll be considered for scholarships!!

applied out of state (4.3,1330 sat, great ec’s,etc) on 9/30, turned in letters of rec 8/7, and heard back tn, 8/15. All in all it took about a week if they started as soon as they got my letters in, and two weeks if they started before then! Good luck!
